Hello all,
Long time lurker, first time poster!

I have a 2010 Fiat 500 1.4 Blackjack. I know this model was limited to just 200 in the UK. Apparently only 35 of the 200 were 1.4 engines, the other 165 were 1.2. My car has a rather unique option spec from factory which includes Xenons, Red Leather, Climate Control, Upgraded Gearknob, Rear Parking sensors, Electric Sunroof and Interscope sound system.

I was looking for some clarification regarding this model and i have a few questions.

It is registered on the V5 as "Fiat 500 Matt Black" but it is definately a Blackjack as it has the original Fiat Blackjack model sticker located on the internal of the drivers door B pillar.

Therefore am i right to assume that the "Blackjack" and the "Matt Black" limited edition are one and the same?

If so, im even further confused by the fact the Blackjack was only offered with the 1.2 or 1.4 engine in 2010 and all UK allocated cars were sold out in the first week of the model being for sale. A quick look on Autotrader shows a 2011 "Matt Black" edition with the 0.9 Twinair engine...which would lead me to believe that the Matt Black edition is actually a separate and later edition than the Blackjack. Correct?

Of course if thats true, how can my 2010 car (confirmed Blackjack) be registered as a Matt Black on the V5 when the Matt Black edition was not created/released until 2011, a year later!!!

And finally, the Fiat 500 "Street" model....when ordered in the Matt Black colour is basically identical to the original "Blackjack" limited edition (brushed aluminium look door mirrors and same interior etc) right? (And if thats the case...one has to wonder what the point of the limited Edition Blackjack was, if it was later rereleased as a "Matt Black" edition and subsequently became an everyday option for "Street" spec!)

Genuinely interested to hear back any thoughts an opinions on this matter, ive owned several other limited edition cars from various manufacturers over the years and ive always loved researching the history of the models.

Thanks in advance!

P.S. If any other Blackjack owners read this, please can you confirm what your car is registered as on the V5 and also if you have the small silver sticker on your drivers door internal b-pillar confirming your model is indeed a Blackjack and therefore 1 of just 200!

Fiat are generally a low volume manufacture by the standard of Ford Vauxhall and VW so when fiat do a special edition they are generally low numbers, as an example my old punto dynamic multijet wasn't a special edition but there were still only ever 1000 registered in the U.K. The punto diesel hgt was also not a special edition and sold about 150 cars in the U.K.

Another thing worth considering with fiat is that if they bring out a special edition, as in your case all 200 cars may well have "sold out" but most of those would have been sold directly to dealers as pre registered cars and then sold on again as quickly as possible.

Matt black or black jack on the V5 is largely irrelevant, quite often a special edition can go on the v5 as it's non special edition equivalent

It's likely that Matt black or blackjack are the same basic car with minor difference between the models.

If you check out howmanyleft.com you will see there are many more than 200 black jacks on the dvla records but there is only 1 car in the whole uk registered as a Matt black S-A so you may have a one off car with a special spec registered under its own special name, go check it out

Thanks for your input i really appreciate it. Unfortunately i dont think it adds any clarity for me in relation to the questions i have. I have already used "howmanyleft" but the numbers involved do not seem to be correct (i know for a fact the site is inaccurate having checked other vehicles previously where i knew the exact amount that actually exsisted). My issue isnt really with the numbers built, more so the various editions created.

Regarding the Matt black or Blackjack V5, it may be irrelevant but it does throw the question up of how did a 2010 Blackjack (confirmed) end up being registered as a "Matt Black" when the model didnt even exsist until a year later! Lol. I would love to hear what another Blackjack owner has on their V5!

If anything i would imagine its down to the individual dealers registering the cars under different names. I remember when i owned a mkiv vw golf many years ago owners were annoyed some V5s said "Golf GTi" the others merely stated "Golf 2.0". What made that worse was, at the time, VW were allowing dealers to badge the car on delivery which lead to mass confusion over a cars spec, not to mention the fact they repeatedly changed which engine the Golf GTi would use....evenutally settling on the 1.8T...but i digress! At least my car has the original "Blackjack" factory sticker. I would imagine that the Blackjack was sold and registered only between mid 2010 to early 2011. Those 0.9 twinairs and later cars claiming to be Blackjacks are more likely to be "Matt Black" or "Street" Editions.

Like i said above, genuine thanks for your input, its hard to get any real new information on this model as ive spent a long time reading up before asking the question to members.

Ignore the logbook description, that can be confusing to say the least. As the previous reply said, they are often erroneous if not just completely wrong. The DVLA just put down what is on the paperwork supplied to them. I have a motorbike they list as made in 1943 but the company didn't start until 1950 but they won't change it as that was on the originally supplied form.

Hello and welcome - good to have you on the forum.

How has the finish held up over the years - there was quite a bit of discussion at the time about this.

And those door pillar stickers can be misleading; IIRC one chap took delivery of an A500 with a door sticker that said "Fiat 1.2 Panda".

The paint finish is still in good condition. The previous owners have cared for it and i only use the correct matt paint cleaning products. I also remove bird deposits immeadiately once seen, never park under trees in hot weather and always park away from other cars if possible to avoid scrapes to the paint. To be fair the cleaning products are only twice the price of decent normal paint products (£20 for matt shampoo, as opposed to £10 for a premium regular paint brand etc) and the other things i do i have done in my regular paint cars for years...i just have a little more awareness of it now.
My understanding is the spec on this car is exceptionally rare, a chap stopped me on a garage forecourt today and asked if he could buy it for his daughter. Apparently he was very aware of the optional extras mine had but i had to explain to him that it was also a Blackjack. I have politely declined his offer to buy.
