Hi all,

I've given this a little search on the forum already but still have a question to ask.

I bought my first ever Fiat 500 the other day, a 12 plate that's bright yellow. Basically my dream car.

However, the young lad that sold it to me told me the car came with aux in as standard. Very very excited by the prospect of my new car, I didn't check this in the vehicle itself, and it appears I've been had.

The dealer has advised that they will reimburse me for a third party fitting an aux in, but I'd much rather I had the official bit of Fiat kit as I've had issues in the past when it came to part-exing with a third party aux fitting (unbelievable, I know).

Is an official Fiat fitting possible in my car? Or have I got to rely on a third party mod?

Sorry if this is a daft question (but my mam taught me there's no such thing! ;))

A simple adapter is available that's plug and play, wireless ,hands free/music streaming steering wheel control etc, that's easily removed when sold on say as you just plug it into the rear of the radio, but is £130 look up Xcarlink
You can also get a simple wire for £5 no control at all.

That's really helpful, thank you.

Now to see whether the dealer will reimburse £130!

I've an '08 with no aux. I patched a 3.5mm jack cable into the blue and me wiring on the back of the radio. I then cue up and loop a 5min long silent mp3. I guess a more simple option would have been an FM transmitter. It's seems very strange that the blue&me system isnt ad2p compatible.

I've found a slight snag the Xcarlink page only lists up to 2011, you can see the radio fronts in the compatibility tab next to overview that said it does not show our 59 plate Blaunpunkt unit which it is compatible with, maybe ring first?

Probably not.

The hardware changed in 2011; your car was most likely built pre-changeover and registered in 2012. AFAIK, the OEM Aux port isn't backwards compatible with the earlier Blue&Me unit; also you may find you can't install Blue&Me updates beyond a certain version.

There are various third party solutions, some of which have already been described in this thread, but I doubt you can install the official Fiat AUX port without making some seriously expansive modifications to the car (it'd almost certainly need a new Blue&Me module and maybe even a new wiring loom - cheaper to trade it in and buy a later car).

Later cars have basic iPhone connectivity out of the box (no need to buy a dongle), but sadly still no A2DP.

Thanks for the responses.

I went to a third party car audio specialist and they advised me to put a new radio in, so I'm leaving it in the hands of the dealer to find a solution for me.

In the meantime I'm starting to get really attached to Smooth FM!
