Technical New 105TA serious problem

We were told yesterday that one part still isn't even in from Italy. Still nothing from Ancaster or FCA

Update. The car is now fixed and has been inspected by a Fiat technician.

On Weds 15th June during many phone calls FCA offered me £600 goodwill to take the car back. I argued that car is now worth £5k less than when I bought it which is normal with a brand new car but that for over 50% of it's life it has been off the road with them. And that if they tried to sell a 2 month old car for full price, nobody would buy it - but that is what I am effectively getting. I also pointed out that it has had two major engine failures and electronics rebuilds so even less appealing.

However I said I would consider their offer if it was accompanied by a written undertaking that if any other faults occurred within 1 year they would replace the car new for old immediately which they verbally agreed.

But when I received their email on Friday evening it basically said, if you experience any further faults which were present at point of sale, then this would put you in a better position to reject the car. We will of course review the matter at the time... etc etc.

So I replied that I am already in the perfect position to reject the car now and that offer is not what was discussed and therefore the car IS rejected immediately, when do you want me to drop off the courtesy car?

So here I sit. The courtesy car is going back tomorrow.

But I hope you will still fight for a brand new car. Compensation for being messed around from day one. And an upgrade, a £509 free fuel car and included free insurance.
Else sit outside dealership, in the car, in the public road, list all of this on A4 sheets stuck inside the car. They cannot move you on but I bet you'll get a result from them. Each car sold car have up to 20-30% allowable discount. A new car to you constitutes 3-5 new car sales! Good luck

Fiat must've made so much money on the 500 over the years that i really don't know why they give themselves such appaling publicity by not just agreeing to replace the odd car that suffers a problem like this.

The cost would surely be so small to buy the car back, replace it, and sell the old one on, yet they mess about & carry on like they're completely inept. Dig your heels in, ronmanager :)

We got the repair report from Ancaster last night when dropping off the courtesy car and getting our stuff out of our poor little broken 500. the work done under warranty so far has come to over £1991.09 for both times it has been in.

1st time in: Actuator (£377.78), sealing gasket x 2 total £578.87
2nd time in: Cable harness, control ECU (£459.32) cover, thermostat, labour etc £1331.22

Still silence from FCA. We are now a one car family for the time being. (1st world problems)

So sorry to hear your story Ron. I can only imagine the stress it causes as we are so reliant on our cars.

The goodwill offer is just there to see if you will rise to the bait IMO. Your comments about the current value of your car are completely valid though and with a bit of persistence I'm hopeful you will get the result you are looking for(y)

I think I said earlier on this thread that you will have to really fight your corner because that is the experience of several people on here. Your comments are no surprise to me whatsoever sadly(n)

Still silence from FCA except for letters telling us the car needs an ECU update and that it is overdue! Would have thought the dealer could do this seeing as they have the car...

Just before my 2 year service was due, I had a letter on FORD headed paper, from the Fiat dealer that I brought the car from, saying the Ford mechanics would use Ford parts on my Fiat at this service. I went to another Fiat Dealer who did the service, as they were recommended. This year, just before the 3 year service, I had a letter from that dealer on...Fiat headed paper, to use Fiat Mechanics and Fiat parts for the service. It can be done, but the first dealer was too lazy to think about it. In today's world, it must be easy to make a template for letters to suit the make of car ?? :)

Makes sense to be fair if it was a 1.2 car. Using ford parts wouldn't really make a lot of difference as its the same?

It was not that, but as a dealer selling 5 or 6 makes, it didn't look very professional and If I had wanted Ford mechanics and parts, I would probably have gone to a Ford garage ! It spoils the franchise for me. If they can't get the paperwork right, who knows what goes on in the garage part ?
The other franchise can do it, so why can't the one that sold it to me ?

Err not happy as such. I got a £1500 rebate off of the finance which is about 10% of the cost.

Since then we had the front bumper and bonnet with lights and everything stolen from outside our house which took another month to fix because Fiat don't keep half the parts in the UK. So that was £350 excess then another £270 having a full bifta alarm fitted.

But it is OK otherwise. If I was to buy someone a car as a gift I would definitely NOT buy them a Twinair model. Way too many idiosyncrasies on these that take getting used to.
