Hi - are any forum members keeping fuel consumption figures. I'm pretty disappointed in my TA 0.9 105bhp - its only averaging about 40 miles to the gallon. We bought it following promises of 70+ . Its a year old, done 10,000 miles.

Yep.
I keep a spreadsheet but it's work in progress.
500TA 85bhp.
22,000miles.

I tried Tesco Momentum 99 for a few fill-ups. Didn't seem to make much difference.

Regards,
Mick.

By the very nature of the engine, you're not going to drive it like your granny, so I would think 40 not too bad ,general combined ,the idea of 70 is nuts ,best I've managed in our 1.2 60k+ is 47.5mpg actual ,mostly urban cycle, dash showed 50

About right for a 105 I would have thought, if you make the effort to drive smoothly you'd get that up no problem but as typical 85 owners get mid 40's I'd say 40 is not surprising, it all depends on your journey type though, on my daily commute which takes in a bit of everything I'm getting around 48 on the trip in my 85 which is ok I guess. I've had it up in to the 60's on a long run and I'd say a 105 wouldn't be too far behind with a bit of self control!

Cinnaminta 85bhp ta, is getting........well look at the fuelly below. but it has got only 3k on it. Best on a 120 mile run was 60mpg, that was at about 2k miles

Ignore the official figures when looking up fuel consumption

:yeahthat:

For the power & performance you get from a 105TA, 40mpg isn't bad at all - it's the gap between expectation and reality that causes all the disappointment.

The only way to have any confidence in what you'll actually achieve out of any new car today is to hire one for a weekend, drive it as you normally would, and take some careful measurements.

Sorry but....self control and Fiat 500 shouldn't be in the same sentence. :)
It is economical, but it's also asking to be enjoyed !!

I got about 37mph over 3 years and 30k miles in a twin air 85. I've had the 105s for nearly 2 years and 16k, I'm getting 38ish. Both were mixed town/motorway.

TA85 best tank to date just under 60mpg, mostly on weekend fun trips on twisty/ hilly roads. Current tank is sitting at 80mpg (I've decided to go for a max MPG tank - but with only 9K km on the clock the best MPG might still take a while) but we'll have to see what the pump says - that's if I can restrain myself for the full 1000km :)

i remember getting 40 MPG from an 2015 Audi A4 1.8 TDI rental over a few days. WOW that car was underpowered, a proper barge! 30,000 GBP for pure misery! less than 120 hp for a car weightng a good 1.5 tonnes!

Those underpowered 'eco' cars aren't so economical, mainly because they are so underpowered you have to floor it wherever you go!
For Fiat, the crown prize would go to the 95 hp 1.4 Fiat 500L, what a disaster!

Yeah, that's presumably a derivative of the 1.4 in my daughter's 08 reg Bravo. Pretty gutless, although I've got over 40+mpg out of it. On the plus side, in 3 years all it has needed apart from routine servicing has been a battery and an exhaust, everything still works.

My current vecrta 1.9 turbo with remap (about 190BHP) has delivered 42 mpg over the last 12k and that's Bloomington work at 6.00 and stuck in traffic home at3.30 . Hoping for at least that from my soon to be purchased 1.2 500. On my travels in the last week I haven't seen a single male driver since deciding to buy one.

The worst tank I've had so far is 30mpg average.... I did rag her though. I'm still new to the 105hp, so I'm not driving too sensibly at the moment, but I am averaging about 41mpg per tank.
I was told 65mpg is to be expected from the 85hp. So I bought the 105 instead. Didn't even think to ask about economy. Saw it, gave them my money.

I'm looking at it this way though. Bea, My MG TF 135 took about £65-£70 to fill up, Eloise takes £30-£35, and I am getting the same range, if not more.

Half the engine size, twice the efficiency :D

Ahah the Fiat dealer by me. Anything to sell a car. Not my main concern, so I didn't pay too much attention. I was after slightly more practicality than a 2 seater, without compromising too much on fun factor

lol with the 1.4 i get 12.5-14 km per liter in the city and a bit highways, your'e all really good with saving fuel!
Few months ago a managed to get 12.6Km per liter on avarage of 350km driving..its 27mpg!

Wow ok I rented an Audi A1 1.4 TFSI in the UK this weekend and got 6.3l/100km km. Amazing economy from a 120 hp petrol engine. I can barely get that with the TA, and that is a paltry 85 horsepower!
The 1.4 100 hp I would get around 7.4l/100km equivalent with that type of driving.
