In your pin out spec, the bottom conector, it seems that there is left/right/joint earth input, but just beside it it seems to show a switching input or output terminal it's possible it needs a signal conector to tell the unit there is a external conector attached? (as in my Mazda just a jumper wire to earth) there's also wired phone input/control and sub woofer conections.

Yes it is exactly the same as mine. I had no joy with the AUX adapter cable as I said previously.

That's great! Then hopefully I will be able to get Dension workig :)

Could you tell me how did you install it in the car? Do you have the box in the glovebox, or somewhere else? Because from what I've seen when the radio was out there is not much space in there...

Unfortunately I tried everything and I even had the Aux cable connected, no CD in the radio but I still couldn't switch to AUX

I suspect it won't show up I've put a arrow to show the pin I mean, it seems to show a switching input, so if there is no switching signal regardless of you conecting your lead it won't select or show up I bet if you either earth or apply 12v to it you would be able to "switch on" the aux in, but don't mess with it if you are at all unsure/just don't

If you're wanting an aux socket for music, why don't you just put a load of music onto a memory stick? You'd save a small fortune by not buying a new head unit, plus you wouldn't have to worry about losing blue&me function.

Spotify man - I just can't live without it in the car and you can't download Spotify on USB stick :)

If anyone is having the same problem as I have - Dension Lite BT is an awesome solution. I just installed it, it works perfectly, plus it's super easy to install.

Why not get yourself a nice 1din HU with BT and Aux ready to use?
I remember when i had the original Fiat's unit, damn it was frustrating trying to get it to work every time.

Glad to be of assistance!

I have never had any trouble with mine, also aftermarket headunits look god awful in the large hole in the dash of the 500. The OEM radio has the rest of the interior design in mind.

Yes, the design of the original is beautiful for my opinion too, but the sound quality is pretty rubbish and sometimes its acting weird, if you try to connect it with an amp and a component you will be disappointed.
Another friend of mine had issues with his original HU and replaced it after Fiat dealership gave up trying to fix it.

The picture isn't mine (mine is cream with black but the exact same hu model), how can you say this looks awful?

It doesn't look awful, but for me it looks out of place. It doesn't fit as good as the original radio.
I have a rusty/orange 500 and I really like the way the color of the display matches my dashboard, and I simply couldn't find any aftermarket radios that have orange colors.

Plus I like that I don't have to look on the radio to know who's calling - I have Blue&Me so I just have to look on the speedometer :)

And now with Dension I have Bluetooth audio which is basically the same functionality as aftermatket radios, without the 'out of place' look.

I have just recently purchased a 2007 FIAT 500 as my first car. I can't figure out how to connect my iPhone 5S to my car so I can play my own music as it is designed for Windows phones. Someone please help!

You need to buy one of these. All the instructions are in the link.

Might be able to pick one up on ebay for a bit less.

Or buy a stereo mini jack to jack lead and plug your headphone output in to the aux input, this input should be accessible if you press the cd button on the car stereo without a cd loaded
