Hi all - long time no post!

We've just arranged an upgrade from a 2014 Lounge to the facelift model. As it happened, the colour we wanted was sitting there in the showroom (Epic Blue), so we're having that one.

It has the Uconnect sat nav fitted. Anyone have any experience of it - am I right in thinking there's no option for traffic updates, for example?

Many thanks :)

Hi

Congratulations on your new car, I hope you enjoy it.

The new 500 Lounge connect system does not have Sat-Nav as standard, it's an option. If it does have sat-nav it will have UConnect live with gives traffic updates and will update your maps. You will have to pair your phone with the system, which is pretty easy and it will use your data allowance to do this.
You can also get a nifty little app for your mobile which will tell you where you left your car ( if you forget), if your tyre pressures are on, fuel remaining in tank, range for the fuel left in the tank. Outside temp etc. ......and if your into all this you can even Twitter, check-in on face book, stream music from Deezer or keep abreast of the news!!!! All from the comfort of your driving seat using your UConnect (some options are restricted while driving) for more info look here

Hi Marcus - thank you, that link is really helpful!
The car does have it fitted as an option, hence wondering how good a system it is; we're debating whether to hang on to the TomTom Live unit we bought to work with the cradle/socket on the previous 500. It'll be our daughter's car and she uses the Live traffic feature a lot, as a daily motorway commuter.
Thanks again :)

I too have a new Lounge coming with the Nav system included. The Uconnect app reviews on Android are spectacularly bad (and the logo looks like it says UConned.)

Reminds me of the bloody awful official Fiat 500 sat nav I wasted money on back in 2010 the one before TomTom took over. Never worked once and ended up at the charity shop (probably still there.)

I didn't plump for the Connect with sat-nav, i chose the standard UConnect for the lounge which is a great bit of kit, I wish i'd paid the extra.
I thought i'd too keep my Blue & Me live 2 tom-tom which i did but when I actually sat down and weighed up the pricing for updating the maps and paying for live updates (tom-tom have some pretty good deals at them mo for updating)
I went out and bought a Tom-Tom go 500 which has free updates and maps for life.
I digress, from what I've experienced the Connect is a very good system and you shouldn't need an alternative.

I agree that Uconnect generally works well, but does annoy me when Live services disappear when there is no 3G coverage - living in the wilds of Northamptonshire this is a regular occurrence.

As stated above, the Live Services relies an your phone signal coverage. However, it does work reasonably well and only updates periodically, so if you are in a poor signal area it will just delay its update until you get back in signal coverage again.

You can update the maps yourself, albeit they don't get updated as regularly as the standalone Tomtom unit mapping. For the updates you will need to put an 8GB usb stick in the car and follow the update instructions in the on screen Tomtom menu and then download Tomtom Home on your PC, register your mapping software and if there is an update download the update to the USB and then upload to the car.

I have just bought a Fiat 500 with a TomTom satnav on the dash. I have no idea how to pair this with my phone or the car system. Can anyone help please ?
