Hi again :)

I'm a member already as I had 2004 Punto but the time finally came where it was time to go

So I picked up a 2014 Fiat 500s 2 weeks ago, 16k on the clock, lovely grey colour, red and black interior & anthracite wheels... Love it.

Just a wee question... What's the clutch supposed to be like? The bite point seems really high (like almost releasing the clutch), and not particularly smooth. Garage had it back today just to check over and have said that it's the same as another 500 they have so it's fine. I haven't picked it up yet so I haven't had a chance to speak to them really, but it seems they've just drove another.

Anyone else's clutch really high? Or just mine? (n)

Hi, I've had 4 fiat 500 58 reg sport, 11 reg 500 c and a 63 reg and 15 reg 500s and all the clutches have been exactly the same in all the cars, and I would say they bite just slightly releasing the pedal, smoothly and the pedal is very light to push. Certainly I've never found my clutch to me a pest or tiring on a drive, I have driven other cars where you feel like your having to do a lot of ankle/foot work with the biting being so high, but I would say that with having 4 myself it's not generally a characteristic of the car.

I would probably ask the dealership to let you have a go in the car they're saying they compared it with and see what you think, or possibly visit another dealer as though your interested in buying (get someone to take you in their car not the 500) and test drive another 500/500s. You can drive any 500 as the 500s is just a sportier interior/exterior jazzed up. Mine by the way is a 1.2 petrol and all 4 have been and felt exactly the same.

It's worth the bit of effort to try the vehicles to compare because obviously it will save to have a warranty repair if covered.

Good luck
Dean

Certainly worth making absolutely certain the clutch is ok as clutch wear will not be covered by the warranty. As suggested, try another and see whether you think it's the same.

Just a thought, has it been 16,000 miles of "learner driving"?, contact previous owner and ask?
