Off Topic Where are you from and what do you do?

Born at the very tip of North Riding of Yorkshire in 1946 a small industrial town (South Bank) nr. Middlesbrough. 9yrs as a Police Officer in Middlesbrough/Teesside. final 2 yrs on Scenes of Crime. 28 yrs with Shell UK in operational roles. Have been retired from mainstream employment since1998 and then worked for Job Centre, Metropolitan Police BUPA and finaly the NHS.......

In a nutshell Chas, you're no spring chicken!

I'm originally from Co Down, now living in Belfast.

My dad owned a pub so I worked in that from an early age. My first real job was in the bookies. I retired from that to the Civil Service 18 years ago. Worked in the JobCentre for a while which led me back to another stint in the head office of another bookies in the evening for a few years. Finally gave that up when I got promoted to become a statistician. Working in Stormont (in the sheds out the back) for the last 12 years.

Born 1953 in Hertford, moved to North Devon 1971. Eclectic career, starting as a printer in 1969 and moving into transport 1979. Also 10 years as a DSA ADI (grade 6) and 5 years as an MOT Nominated Tester (Class IV, V and VII). Currently driving coaches and very much looking forward to retirement!

Current cars: 2009 Fiat 500C 1.4 and 2010 Mazda MX-5.

Born in London NW3 but live in mid-Suffolk. 55, two daughters, married the same woman twice (1981-1990, and 2006-present).

Self-employed training/management development consultant, working with senior business leaders/civil servants all over the world: sounds glamorous, but consists mainly of standing around in airports on a Friday night, wondering if bleedin' Easyjet (or whoever) are actually going to show up....

I enjoy coming back to my family, home and cars.

Born in Hamilton, NZ, 1980.
After getting my degree as an electronics engineer, I worked in a small business for two years making traffic sign controls and a digital measuring wheel.

I was made redundant and found a new job teaching financial people how to use Excel. I've been doing this for 12 years though I have left the company twice and most of my time is now spent writing articles, editing videos, and running Webinars for accountants and CFOs. Last year I commuted to Australia and back nine times in nine months, to run training courses. Lots of time spent in airports wondering if Qantas/Jetstar are showing up...! Last year I went to PNG as well.

At the end of April, I'll be leaving the company permanently and from August till November, I'll be working as a FIAT/Alfa Romeo parts specialist - something I have done for 2-3 month stints in previous years.

I am from Cyprus, studying law at Sheffield Uni. Moving to Manchester soon to start my first job.

Born and raised in Mid Wales, where I saw (and immediately fell in love with) my first Fiat Uno. Exiled to Cornwall, then Leeds and now Liverpool.

I'm a writer and freelance communications consultant, currently developing and redeveloping corporate websites. Hey, it pays the bills.

Born and lived in North Shields, Tyne and Wear until I was 4 years old. My family moved to South Africa where I was raised. Lived there for 25 years...Returned to England 9 years ago and am now living in Maidstone Kent. I have a Bsc Hons Computing and have been in the IT industry for over 20 years.

Took my Dad's Toyota Cressida for a joyride at 17 and crashed it. My best friend's Dad owned an auto/body shop and I was forced to work through my summer holidays doing all the grunt work. This is when my passion for cars started. I also volunteer at my local garage as a "Mechanics helper / enthusiast" whenever I have spare time ;)
