That was my first thought, too.
A close inspection of the hatch wiring should be the second thing you do on any 500 with a suspected electrical problem.
The first thing you should do is
disconnect the battery before you inspect it. If there is a problem with the hatch wiring, inspecting it could cause a short circuit or a stray live feed, potentially making the problem worse.
There's no point putting diagnostics on the car until you've checked the integrity of the wiring; if the wiring is faulty, diagnostics could give you a misleading result.
There have been examples on this forum of franchised dealers who've quoted for many hundreds of pounds of unnecessary work on the basis of running diagnostics on a car with faulty hatch wiring.
