Hey there!
This is my first post!

I'm soon to be the proud new owner of a 2013 1.2 fiat 500 colour therapy in blue, and can't wait as its my absolute dream car and I've saved/worked hard for it!

However I've been doing my research on them and an article came up about euro 6 engines and how it makes them terrible on hills! I live in Wales and it's very hilly in parts but my current Citroën c2 1.1 is fine with it mostly; but my question is would anyone know whether a car made March 2013 be fitted with a euro 6? Very concerned I'm making the wrong choice by picking something that can't get round my hometown!

Thankyou :)

Some of the Euro 6 engines can / could get into a mode where it bogs down badly on hills and won't respond to the throttle, this has supposedly been addressed.

If your car is Euro 5 then I seem to remember it should have Marelli engine ECU, the Euro 6 versions were rewired and fitted with Bosch.

Generally the 1.2s should perform OK if you rev them when needed, however the performance did become flatter compared to earlier versions of the 1.2 Fire.

The stupid thing was that for Petrol engines there was no real difference in requirements between Euro 5 and 6, Fiat seemed to feel the need to add various features with the electrical / electronic system upgrade that added complexity and probably reduced the peppiness and drivability of the engine in order to gain a few CO2 / tax brownie points.

I'm sure the idea was to get a common standard for the 500s and Pandas to give them a few more years of the Fire motor until everyone moves to Twinair (or Diesel!).
