Hi,

Bit of a strange one this but I thought I'd ask anyway. I've just (over the last few days) started to notice a bit of...clunking / resistance or something when changing gear from the south end of the gear stick (so when going from 2nd/4th). It's quite intermittent, and nothing seems wrong, but I can most definitely feel something different when moving the stick out of those positions.

Any ideas? Car is coming up to 2 years old, had from new.

This anecdotal, but since I'm not aware of anyone reporting this on a 500 here goes. My Jeep (Mercedes sourced 6 speed), started being difficult to get into gear after about 10K miles, it was fine when cold (well it was always a bit sticky cold), fine when hot (it takes about 30miles to warm up a gearbox fully), but resistant when 'warm'. This lasted about 2K miles and went away all by itself....

It's so weird, it doesn't seem to make any difference on moving the stick at all so there isn't any resistance, but it just feels...how do I explain this...that it might be (the whole stick) moving up or down a bit when it is doing the 'thing'.

On this mornings drive it only happened a few times. The thing is 95% of my journeys are from Portsmouth to Havant which is only about 10 miles or so, and then its left in the carpark for 8 hours and then the same thing again later.
It is due a service soon (provided the gearbox doesn't suddenly fall out the bottom) so I'll ask them about it then.

Sounds like something in the selector or linkage is loose, probably easily fixed under warranty

I hope so, it was doing it on the way home tonight and it was really obvious, a very definite clunk you can just about hear and feel.
