Hi there

Had new pads and discs fitted 6 months and 5000 miles ago and now the warning light is coming on intermittently.

It's the orange circle with three dashes either side.

It's not on all the time. It seems to come on after 15 or 20 mins driving.

Took it back to the garage who fitted the pads. They were very good. Had both front wheels off. Confirmed the pads were good as new. Unplugged and plugged the sensor back in after a bit if a clean.

But the problem persists.

They have (helpfully) said they'll change the pads if it continues but that seems a shame. Is there a more simple explanation maybe?

Grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Ian

Check the brake fluid level. If that's OK, not unknown for the fluid level sensor to get flakey.

I would expect a garage to jump right on this as a possible fault.

Yeah. That was the first place the garage looked.

The fluid is fine.

Any more ideas, chaps?

Somewhat strangely, I noticed the brakes squeezing a bit today.

But just to reiterate, the pads are pretty much brand new!!

Bear in mind that these cars have problems with the caliper sliders crudding up and not sliding properly, leading to excess wear on one of the pads in a pair.
Did your garage do a strip, clean and grease when they did the work?

The light comes on when there is an earth connection from the wire - usually through the pad when worn. So if something is shorting out you might get a flickering light..
