Help, I'not been on here for a few years as I moved away from Fiat, but now I'm need some help with the better half's 500 1.2 pop. We've been away for 2 weeks and left the car on the drive in 3rd gear, I've just come to move it and it would only go into neutral (gear stick wont move side to side) and back into 3rd

Could it be something to do with the gear linkage, or could a new gearbox be on the horzon

I has been sticking a bit in reverse a bit for the last 6 weeks or so

Would either be a corroded linkage seizing up or possibly a low gearbox oil level I would think.

How old is it? and the mileage?

As it's happened after being stood that suggests a seized cable linkage.

I have no idea where the cable runs but I'd start by crawling over/under it as someone shifts between neutral and 3rd.

Then as they are doing this spray anything and everything that moves with loads of wd40.

This may free things up. If this is the case it does suggest a seal has failed allowing water into the cable mechanism. If so the fix will only be temporary.
