Wondering if anyone can help me....I have a Fiat 500 1.3 Multijet Sport

Recently my power steering warning light has been coming on and off (and steering going heavy)

Yesterday it seemed to go completely mad and aswell as the power steering warning the speedo was jumping, the ABS light was going on and off and I was getting a message saying EBD faliure. I could also hear a 'tick' noise before the power steering warning would come on.

Today it seems to be ok and only the power steering light comes on and off.

I do have it booked in at the garage but was wondering if anyone had had the same issue and what the diagnosis was.

It's the battery.

A new one is not particularly expensive and is very very easy to fit yourself. If your car is not stop-start equipped a new battery is probably not much more expensive than a diagnostic read at some garages. Buy one online (I used advanced battery supplies for my 500) and fit it yourself. Only need an adjustable spanner.

As a side note, is it worth setting up some sort of search prompt the first time someone logs into the forum to post? As the 500 ages there will almost certainly be a large increase in the number of people posting a question that's been asked a million and one times before and then never returning once they've been given an answer,

I've only recently had the battery replaced. Could it be an issue relating to earth connections?

Doesn't matter, you don't have to reply...:) Besides, a friendly welcome and advice just might encourage 'em to stay a while.

Worth asking if it's been replaced with one of the correct rating? Stop/Start models have a higher capacity battery than the earlier non-SS models. Fitting a lower capacity battery to an SS model will likely cause this sort of issue.

Had similar on a Siecento, the power steering pump fuse was not pushed in all the way.
