I am getting my shiney new 500 Vintage 57 next week.

I am going to try and keep it looking shiney and new for as long as possible:D

Unfortunatley I also have a horse and one drawback of said beast is grubby mits. The last thing I want to do is wreck my lovely new cream/white leather steering wheel and therefore I have been trawling ebay for a suitable cover that won't look too awful.

I have couple of likely suspects, but before ordering I just wanted to check the size of the steering wheel. I've googled it and searched on here but no joy.

Please can someone help me?

Thanks in advance

How about keeping some wipes in the car and cleaning your hands?

Yeah I wash my hands but the dirt gets ingrained especially after grooming so I'm not risking it.

...and yes I have thought of gloves but I just want to be able to get in my car and drive...

How about just getting some brown leather driving gloves, that would look so much better than one of those awful steering wheel covers and at the same time you'll be looking vintage to match the car ?

I'd go down the driving gloves route as well, as said most steering wheel covers look awful and a lot I've seen look dangerous as they don't grip the wheel very well and have crap surface for you to hold. The only thing I would consider is a proper leather wrap put on by a professional.

Gloves won't work. I won't have any discipline about wearing them and I always lose gloves

Is anybody actually able to answer my question about the size of the steering wheel ?

My wheel is 375mm outside diameter. We bought a 'slip-on' leather one for the partner's 500 and it does the job, but it was extremely difficult to "slip" on and in my view makes the wheel too thick to hold properly.

Fabulous. Thank you???

I'll give a cover a whirl and see how I get on. If it's not working I'll have to think about budgeting to replace the steering wheel when I sell the car on.
