Hey,
Just wanted to share some playing around with plasti dip rattle cans.
The color i used is Anthracite grey recommended by a friend.

I decided i don't want any Chrome parts on my red little car, and also wanted to make it a bit more "manly" :p
After replacing new tires i started the whole project.

So - at first the car looked like that:

Then replaced the front chrome parts that fell off a few times, ordered new from Ebay, but before installing them i painted with the dip and then used 3M VHB tape to stitch it to the front bumper (lost the rivets when they fell off).

Fitted on the car

Moved to the handles + emblems and trunk handle + fuel cap

Finished

Moved to the wheels - at this point i used some garbage bags behind the wheel to protect the brakes and all behind it, you don't want the dip to go over your brakes

Final result

The whole job took me about 5 hours and that's because it was 34C outside, crazy
Very important to remember - clean the car well before using plasti dip, the areas where the dip goes needs to be cleaned with IPA or Panel Wipe to remove oil / wax / dirt.
The wheels - i used tire gel so the spray will not attach to the rubber - here also you need to be very careful not to touch the rims, any part of it touching the Tire gel will not accept plasti dip!
Number of coats done on every part was about 4 over the emblems and 6-7 over the wheels, waiting about 15-25 minutes between every coat, not forgetting to shake the cans for about a minute before any usage.

I'm thinking about lowering it, i think it will look way better, now saving money :p

Personally I'm not a fan of the dipped door handles- looks a bit "base spec" with the colour, but the wheels do look good. Be intrigued to see how they last.

Well because of my bad pictures from the really bad camera on the Htc M7 it doesn't flatter well to the plasti dip paint, but in reality it looks way better than the very cheap looks of the chrome, mine was a bit with scratches and i don't like it, i was also afraid of that "cheap" looks with the plasti dip, but it does look like that with the regular Black plasti dip, this is the reason for the Anthracite color.
The dip really has smooth satin touch

I did it on my old 500 a few years ago. It lasted for a couple of years and I peeled it off before I sold the car

The one you had was gorgeous!
did you lowered it?
mine is 1.4 2010 but they come missing things like that..pretty annoying.
I have a chance to buy from a friend a totally new set that went off from Abarth (ordered the esseesse) with 0 miles on them (lowering + Koni shock absorbers) the only reason i wait is the lack of cash :D

Nice photos -- I've seen lots of pics where plastidip looks cheap and nasty but the black that you chose seems to work nicely. Personally I'm not a fan of doing the chrome bits but the wheels looks great.

Thanks
The color i used called Anthracite, now i'm thinking about going with few coats of Copper Metalizer over the rims, if and when i'll do it, i will post again :)

Looks awesome :D Did the same to mine except the fuel filler cap (good idea btw). Getting enough coating on the inside og the door handles is a bit of a challenge.

Sadly mine starting peeling after my latest Dinitrol rust proofing :-/ Have to redo it.

Thanks
Inside the door handles yiu should put a strip of tape to cover the edges, so it wont start peeling when opening the door, this is the tip i got from DipYourCar site - that's reccommended if you are not going to take off the handles completely from the car.
Its about 2-3 months old and the dip over the handles sits pretty well
