Hey,
Just wanted to share some playing around with plasti dip rattle cans.
The color i used is Anthracite grey recommended by a friend.
I decided i don't want any Chrome parts on my red little car, and also wanted to make it a bit more "manly"
After replacing new tires i started the whole project.
So - at first the car looked like that:
Then replaced the front chrome parts that fell off a few times, ordered new from Ebay, but before installing them i painted with the dip and then used 3M VHB tape to stitch it to the front bumper (lost the rivets when they fell off).
Fitted on the car
Moved to the handles + emblems and trunk handle + fuel cap
Finished
Moved to the wheels - at this point i used some garbage bags behind the wheel to protect the brakes and all behind it, you don't want the dip to go over your brakes
Final result
The whole job took me about 5 hours and that's because it was 34C outside, crazy
Very important to remember - clean the car well before using plasti dip, the areas where the dip goes needs to be cleaned with IPA or Panel Wipe to remove oil / wax / dirt.
The wheels - i used tire gel so the spray will not attach to the rubber - here also you need to be very careful not to touch the rims, any part of it touching the Tire gel will not accept plasti dip!
Number of coats done on every part was about 4 over the emblems and 6-7 over the wheels, waiting about 15-25 minutes between every coat, not forgetting to shake the cans for about a minute before any usage.
I'm thinking about lowering it, i think it will look way better, now saving money
