Anyone know how this works, the right hand gauge sometimes has a Grey patch light up over number 4 or 5 then a green patch appears over the 5.

Very confusing what it's actually telling you.

Unless I'm blind I cannot seem to find it in the manual. How to use or interpret it.

Some parts of the new dash display are nice but then feel the time and temp outside are very small.

The further up the scale (ie towards the 5) the dial is showing the more economically you are driving. Consequently the lower the number on the scale the more fuel you are using. Therefore, if your target is too drive as economically as possible, you want the dial to be in the green (5) segment for as much of the journey as you can make it.

I guess it just monitors engine load, throttle position, and vacuum. I.e. how much air/fuel is being sucked in. It appears to have a lag so it's not swinging wildly from 1 to 5. Quite satisfying to keep it in the green zone when you're in the mood but I don't think it's too sophisticated.

It appears to have a lag
Yes, that's awful! The same is the case with the graphic where you look at a white 500 from behind and colour of the tarmac below the 500 shows "how economically you drive". When accelerating in city traffic and shifting gears rapidly, you see green tarmac when fully accelerating and red tarmac when you lift the throttle to shift gear. That means red tarmac when you don't use any fuel! The opposite would make more sense!

Haha I must drive very Eco friendly then as I've only ever had a red Tarmac not seen green yet.
