My fiat500 is due for the 5th year service plus other maintenance. The dealer service centre at battersea quoted me a shocking 800+ for this 5th year "big" maintenance. My car has extremely low mileage

hahaha shame on you for going to battersea with the car out of warranty = )

ok being more helpful, give the nearest bosch service center a call. take your car there, they use bosch parts.

at that age i am assuming you need a timing belt + water pump if not done so already in addition to spark plugs, oil, and filters. + brake pads and discs if you need.

oh and contrary to popular belief, no matter how low mileage your car is, parts degrade over time. so a 0 mileage car that is 5 years old will be in much worse shape than a 0 mileage brand new car.

Just find yourself a good local garage that is a member of the Good Garage Scheme.

You'll undoubtedly find they will be considerably cheaper than the outrageous quote (imvho) you've been given.

If you really want to use an independent Fiat specialist in London, just have a search on google (other search engines are available, terms and conditons apply!) sorry, couldn't help myself. Such as the garage below in the link.

As for the OP's location, the reason I posted the Good Garage Scheme in the Battersea area, was because I made the assumption that because the OP had been to the Fiat dealership in Battersea, that he might live somewhere local to that area.

It would be nice if the OP got back to us to let us know how they get on?.......

i never looked close at the link, i have now and put my own town into their search box and all the garages that i know are dodgy have 5 stars :spin:

Lol! Well that's unfortunate and it would be interesting to know how you know that all of the garages that you know that have 5 stars are dodgy!

Anyway, you're own feelings about the local garages near you aside, I've used two garages recommended under the Good Garage Scheme in Derby (20 odd miles from me) and both were absolutely superb, for workmanship and prices. I will admit though, there are one or two very local garages near me that have '5 stars' and personally, I wouldn't use them for anything and that is just based on a hunch and feelings about what they do, not because I've actually used them for anything. That's probably unfair in some people's eyes, but you can't help how you feel

maybe i didn't word it right. the ones i know are dodgy (thought wom having lived in the same town for 45 years) have 5 stars.
