I'm wondering about things people have done to their coloured dash- I've heard of swapping the colour, carbon fiber film, etc- I'm wondering about something like a black (maybe brushed) steel finish/effect film... Just in the black car, with black ambience, it's all a bit... 'noir'... I've just been in a purple car today, and the dash looked amazing, in some lights it's nearly black but... Not! I'd love to do a sheen like you get on a starlings feather... But I suspect that's just from being blown away by a hat at an exhibition of feathers in fashion last year! ??

My car's also black with matching dash and I toyed with the idea of a dark wood-grain or even a chrome look. I only wish I had a couple of spare dash panels so I could change them as the mood strikes. Problem with wood-grain is it can look rather tacky if it's not done right.

I know what you mean about the feathers - the iridescent blue of a Kingfisher's wing is something to behold.

I'm not too keen on the panel being leather covered.
I've got plans to have the entire interior retrimmed in leather, I didn't spec it from factory as I wanted the under seat storage... and I don't like the colour choices! I'm having the entire doors and the rear 'door' panels covered- and the textured dash top... I think that's 'enough' leather for me... even allowing for the seat & door centres being Bentley quilted style- which is the direction we seem to be heading.
So *BUMP!
Anyone else have some thinks?

How is your trimmer dealing with the passenger airbag area? I'm keen to do something with the top, maybe alcantara, but need to know what part of the dash blows out with the airbag......

Now that we'd not thought about!
I guess a word with the dealership will happen first... Would it not just come from the painted panel? Seems odd if it came out the top textured piece of the dash.... But then... I'm not a safety crash person... Who knows!? :0)

Definitely not from the painted panel, it either blows out a section of the top or lifts it and comes out from underneath.. No amount of searching can find me a pic of the dash with the airbag deployed!

Have you tried searching wrecked cars on eBay/ Gumtree? I remember seeing a wrecked 1.4 with airbags deployed, didn't save a pic though.

RUI had is dash top flocked, shouldn't affect the airbag that way.

Well found... That's a lot higher than I would have thought, considering the airbag logo is nearer the lip of he plastic part. Maybe I'll take a trip round some scrappys :)
