I've put this in the Satellite Navigation section of the forum, but no-one has replied. I get the impression that people don't look at that section very much.

We have a 500TA with the TomTom B+M Live device on the dashboard fitting.
It works well, and I have no issues with its operation or use.

Except ...................

I do not own, nor have ever owned, a mobile phone with handsfree capability. I have no desire to own one and therefore have no need to pair one up with the car and TomTom.

Trouble is, every 30secs, a message comes up on the TomTom screen to say, "Phone Not Connected"

I know it's not connected, because it doesn't exist!!!!

How do I stop the annoying message continually appearing?

I'm putting the question here in the hope that someone will answer. I have tried the TomTom forum, but the question remains unanswered. Perhaps it doesn't have an answer? If so, it would be good if someone said so. Failing an answer, I'll be emailing TomTom support to get them to comment.

Thanks in hope,
Mick.

Have you gone to settings for bluetooth on the live unit and turned bluetooth off ,i cant remember where it is as i sold my unit over a year ago but that might stop it looking for a phone .

found this on a pdf try this,,,Phone settings
Phone settings
Tap this button to open the phone settings menu.
One of the phone settings allows you to enable or disable Bluetooth for
your Blue&Me-TomTom 2. If you disable Bluetooth, any connection you
have established between your Blue&Me-TomTom 2 device and Blue&Me
is cancelled.
For more information on connecting your phone and making hands-free
calls, see Hands-Free calling.

Hi Mick;

Try going into Settings/Connections/Phones and tap "Disable Hands-free" if it's showing.

While you're there tap 'Manage Phones' and delete any phones listed (there shouldn't be any of course, but you never know...).

Finally; using the steering wheel controls bring up 'Settings/User Data/Delete Users' and press 'OK'.

That's all I can think of!

If you disable Bluetooth the unit won't connect with Blue&Me.

If you can't find 'Connections' you might have to update your software - mine didn't have it when I first acquired it but it appeared after downloading the update about mid-2014.

Thank you for your replies! :)

Trouble is, I've tried everything.
............ and even now trying everything again, so now got some more facts.

When the TomTom is in its cradle and powered up normally, it pairs with the B+M in the car just fine. When it's paired, the Settings/Connections/Phones is greyed out, but before it pairs, I can select Phones and Disable Hands-Free.

If the unit is in the house - like it is now - it cannot pair with the car of course, and then the "Phone Not Connected" message never comes on. Also, when switched on manually in the car with ignition OFF, the message doesn't come up.

It seems to me that when it's in the car, powered on, ignition on, and paired, it's only then that the message comes up even though the Hands-Free is disabled.

Therefore it must be something to do with the car, rather than the TomTom?

Thanks again,
Mick.

PS:
Just disabled bluetooth to try that.

If that is disabled, it won't pair with the car? Not that it really matters, but the trip info and the EcoDrive info is nice to have.

Just going outside to try it.

Back soon,
Mick.

Disabling Bluetooth stops it, but it won't pair with the car.
I prefer it paired, but I don't like the constant warnings that my non-existant phone is not connected.

Back to my point.
It must be the car that's telling the TomTom that the phone isn't connected.

Any ideas?
Mick.

In that case try deleting user data from the car's menu - perhaps it still has an old pairing there.

Can you say that again?

I've just tried speaking to the car and said, "Settings", but the only response is, "No USB device found." There wouldn't be, coz there's nothing plugged in.

I tried saying, "User data", but it didn't recognise that as a command.

If I say "Telephone", it tells me that the phone isn't connected.

Mick.

Mick.

Just press the telephone button (bottom right on the steering wheel) and scroll down to settings, select that and scroll to User Data, then Delete Users and Delete All (or whatever - I forget the exact listing).

Sorted!!!

I tried again, and got "her" to go to Settings again, and this time I could go to User Data, so I said, "Delete All" and it worked. What happened before, I cannot recreate, so I don't know what it was.

I've not pressed any telephone buttons yet even though we've had the car since October, so never thought of that.

Thanks guys, this has been driving me loopy. No wonder the TomTom forum couldn't reply, because it wasn't a TomTom issue. :)

Thanks muchly,
Mick.
