So my Fiat 500S 1.4 2013 Dual logic had it's 30,000 service a few months back and I made note that the clutch oil needs replacing every 30,000km or 2 years. So I told my independent service agent this must be done as part of the log book servicing and he came back to me stating I didn't have a clutch fluid reservoir and for that reason mine doesn't need doing? Is this correct? The main reason is I used to take it to a dealer and mentioned clutch shudder from start off and can it be adjusted, she said no it's hydraulic so it is what is,but I want to make sure I have serviced it 100% correctly I case of any issues before warranty expires in 18 months.

Thanks for your help.

As I understand it the DL clutch is electro-hydraulic and the fluid must be checked/changed at a dealership according to the manual. What I know for sure is that our 1200 Pop DL doesn't have a reservoir which is normally located on the firewall in front of the driver (RHD), again going by the manual.

It is confusing however, as our TA Lounge manual doesn't have a separate clutch reservoir either. When I had leak problems early on I was told the brake reservoir also supplies the clutch but the manual doesn't say.

Right, so if he replaced the brake fluid then essentially he has replaced the clutch fluid also? Quite confused.

Not in your dualogic, if I am correct. The clutch/gear actuator seems to be basically a separate sealed unit with no top-up facility. perhaps one of the more knowledgable members could shed light on that.

The handbook diagrams of engine bay layout don't distinguish between manual/DL versions but show the 1.3 Multijet 95hp version with a combined brake/clutch reservoir and all the other engines with separate bottles, except the Twinair.

My brake reservoir does have an extra outlet at the back (compared with the 1200) to which is clamped a braided hose which I presume is the clutch supply.

A visit to the dealership to talk to the service manager might clear it up.

From what i have been told, the DL system will be checked every service to see if needed an oil change, i asked it last time i serviced my car about 3000km ago.

That's probably right Liav. I'm getting my car serviced by my independent in a couple of weeks so I'd better talk to him and see if he's familiar with the issue before we take the 1200 there.

on the "auto" boxes,
the fluid is in a small reservoir fixed to ( the engine side) of the gearbox,
under the aluminium foil cover.;)

I'm not sure how it is drained, - but needs to be bled of air via electronic software operating the actuators.

As Charlie says.

The dualogic is a manual gearbox operated by hydraulic actuators. The control mechanism is attached to an otherwise normal gearbox and is self-contained. There are several threads on this forum about problems with low oil level, so getting it changed and checked at services is a good thing.

Print the guide Charlie links to, show it to your garage. If he does not seem confident, you'll need to find someone who is not afraid of it. Similar systems are fitted to many makes, so many garages will be competent. Will need specific oil.
