Hi all

As the title says - rearview mirror has come off. I've bought some sticky pads from Halfords and have re-stuck the mirror but it's now very wobbly due to the sticky pad being fairly soft. Can I re-stick it using superglue? Any other ideas?

Many thanks.

Any other ideas?

Depends how cheeky you are - but you could try going to a branch of one of the windscreen companies and asking if they'll re-attach it for you.

It'll only take them seconds - they must do this dozens of times every day - and if you catch them when they are quiet and smile nicely they might even do it free.

As an aside, the usual cause is a badly fitted replacement screen - so if your own screen has been replaced and you know who did the work, then take it back and they'll be even more likely to fix it for free.

Or just drive faster!
Friend of mine is an antiques dealer. He was in Germany picking up some items and was pulled over by the police. He was cautioned because his INTERIOR mirror was cracked. They had somehow spotted this as he drove past!

The only thing that will 100% work is a product you get from Screwfix/B&Q called "Sticks Like S**t!"

It comes in one of those tubes that silicone comes in. The glass will break before the mirror comes off.

Take it to the pros. The Loctite mirror adhesive only lasts about a year in my experience and then the mirror will fail again. The silicone type adhesive is probably a good idea, but has the potential to make a big mess if you're not careful.

Thanks - I'll get some of the loctite stuff - and thank you to everyone else for their ideas.
