General Fiat 500 restyle 2015.

"Sorry, Fiat discontinued the twinair engine in the Fiat 500 2 years ago due to a lack of sales so can't source a new one for you. We do have plenty of 1.2's to choose from though . . . . . . . ."
This is hilarious! I hope this British comedy television show will be broadcasted soon in my country! :ROFLMAO:

I wonder if the dealer in question has managed to pick up a load of 1.2s cheap from somewhere....

Almost certainly, the showroom was stacked with 1.2's.

Odd- most dealers I've been too are all to happy to let a new buyer test drive a used vehicle (if the demo isn't available). Guess it keeps the miles off the demos (who notices a few hundred miles on a 30k mile car) and lets the buyer try a "loosened up" drivetrain.

Indeed but remember I'd be test driving an engine that Fiat no longer produce in the 500 so would be a waste of their time letting me loose in a used one . . . . . . .:D

According to that article, Volare Blue has been dropped:confused:

Why? Seriously, why? It's a great colour. It suits the 500 so well and it's not like there aren't any on the roads; it definitely sells. A shocking decision IMO.

My wife absolutely loves her Colour Therapy in Volare Blue. But when I showed her the facelift the other day she wasn't keen, so coupled with this news maybe that's no bad thing...

I can only upload one picture... Grr! I think the built in sat nav is excellent on the interior- I love the TFT dash I have in mine, and I dislike hugely the sat nav stuck on the dash, it's integrated well but not physically... At least there's no trailing wires...
Externally... It's very pretty the new restyle but I think I prefer the present design... Love the chrome fits on the front lower grill, love the rear light clusters... But I don't think the chrome strips are as well thought out... Personally!

FIAT have strong history on this- just before I ordered mine they absolutely decimated the colour choice that was available at launch. Probably a reason that so many BNW are about- for £300 extra the only remotely interesting colour available at the time was a slightly washed out yellow that wasn't as good as the old Broom Yellow.

That said, it's a UK market demand thing I think- look at the number of silver cars on the road. I'm still annoyed at Suzuki not bringing Champion Yellow into the UK.

I can understand unpopular colours being dropped, but Volare blue seems to sell well and looks great. Go figure...

All the new brochures I've seen (albeit not for the UK) and the Fiat Germany configurator (which has the facelifted car on it) still show Volare Blue as available :)

The two colours that've gone appear to be New Age Cream (nearly as stupid as dropping Volare Blue) and Chillout Purple. They've been replaced by an orangey looking red colour and a burgundy/red wine type of colour.

I've personally still not forgiven them for dropping Ye Ye Green, Punk Grey and Jive Blue about 6 months after launch :(

I forgot to add before that apparently the 'S' model and Abarth won't get the facelift until 2016, so will remain on sale in their current form for now, including older style interior, according to this article:

http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/fiat/500/92187/new-fiat-500-2016-facelift-review

That's good news for anyone who doesn't like the new look, but also a massive shame since that new UConnect (which seems to only come in black) would fit in a lot better with the all-black interior on the S/Abarth's than it does on the (usually specified) cream interior on the other models.

I know the S was introduced a lot later than the Pop & Lounge, but it seems a very strange decision, as did adding PopStar and Cult trim levels a few months ago, only to then carry out a facelift a few months later - I don't think anyone in Fiat speaks to eachother! :(

And the orangey colour, plus there was a rather nice mocca-type colour that seemed to have an extremely short run, but was gorgeous.

Aah yeah, Calypso Orange. I liked that too.

Got a feeling the mocca colour was Punk Grey - why they dropped them so soon i'll never know. I assume it was due to sales figures but they barely gave some of them chance to sell and I think most of the colours that've followed since have still not been as good as the originals :(

Here's a link to the original colour choices:

All the good ones got deleted :(

Yeah, that's the one. There was a members motor thread on here that was lovely.

The two blues (Jive and Mod) were good too. Would have loved a calypso orange or ye ye green 500.

I've not checked, but I wonder if the colours changed to were standard across the FIAT range (or at least between the Panda/500/any others made in Tychy).

At one point the colour choice was something like BNW, Funk white, Pasodoble Red, Metallic blue, yellow and many shades of grey and silver. Not exactly stand out

They better sort the Uconnect crap out, otherwise I'm not going to touch a new FIAT with a hundred foot pole.

Epic fail. (n)

They have sorted it out. There's a patch for the affected systems.
And I believe it's only a problem in America, where You can remote start the engine etc.
In Europe they don't offer that (as far as I know). The Uconnect Live in Europe needs Your mobile to connect to the internet (and an app installed on the mobile) and You still can't start the engine or control the brakes via the system.

That's good to hear. Never understood the point of being able to remotely start a car, let alone do it via the Internet

My goodness, who wants to use a phone to control the brakes? Maybe I'm old fashioned, but I prefer to use the brake pedal for that purpose!
