Probably less chrome on other trim levels. Thank goodness it's a subtle facelift, unlike the Mini which has been gradually ruined over the years. As Murano says, some more upmarket door cards would have been nice. Hope the rhd models keep the glovebox lid.

Lots more new pics here. Infotainment system is a bit massive, still it is absolutely vital to keep track of Twiiter and Facebook at all times.

thanks for the link, good to hear about the suspension tweeks and sound deadening. I wonder what the 'Sport' or S version will look like? I'd be tempted by a 105 TA tradeup although you would wonder if this is a short term revamp with a more significant refresh in a year or two?

ok good so they have barely changed anything, chassis looks identical. so this is a mark 1.5, not a mark 2. excellent.

Yup, sounds to me like an epic fail. (n)

Nothing in there that interests me at all. Hell, I bet they got rid of the Port 68R mount so you can't buy your own TomTom to plug into the cradle and have to go with their crap built-in GPS system which will cost a fortune to buy map updates for.

I'm guessing there's no steering wheel reach adjustment either.

And the "new engine" selection is just engines tuned for lower emissions, I wouldn't be surprised if they pull away slower etc.

The only new FIAT I'm interested in at the moment is the 500X -- I hope we'll get to buy that in the 1.4L turbo variant in Australia. In the meantime, looks like I'll be keeping my 500C for a few more years; fingers crossed that I don't get bitten by any Dualogic problems.

They seem to have done an OK job to me. I personally think there wasn't much wrong with the exterior, so what they've done is very close to the point of being 'too much' - I would've preferred them to wait & only tweak the exterior appearance when they introduce an all-new car.

The things that needed the most attention were the sometimes harsh, bouncy ride, and the refinement. Sounds like refinement might be slightly improved from the extra soundproofing (similar tricks have worked very well on the Alfa Giulietta facelift so it might work on the 500). However it doesn't sound like the ride's going to be much different :(

I like that they've answered the criticism of the lack of glove box (hopefully that'll be on all models, not just higher specs like the Panda), and it's good to see a stereo which supports Bluetooth Audio Streaming & DAB, as the 500 was getting hopelessly behind rivals in that regard. However it looks a bit shabby that the UConnect is obviously only available in black, meaning there's a piecemeal black & ivory interior combo going-on. I also wonder how easy it'll be to use the touch screen on the move as the original stereo was quite a reach to adjust accurately in our 500, especially when on the move! Seat materials look nice & overall I think with the exception of the black stereo on ivory-trimmed models & slight mis-match of materials, the interior looks ok. It'll probably work better in all-black, rather than ivory.

Engines are just tweaked from what I can tell, and given Fiats recent track record this leaves me very nervous. They really need to close the gap in price from the 1.2 to the TwinAir 85, to encourage more people to try the TA, so will be interesting to see if that happens (I doubt it). I also hope the S model is returning, as it sells well in the UK & gives it appeal to a male audience that the other models don't have.

Overall they've done alright. I think it's overpriced & even the modest £200 increase in price is too much given the previous hikes. It really needs an all-new car to address the fundamental criticisms, but as a stop-gap for a couple of years they've done about as much as they needed to, short of spending mega bucks on what's essentially an old model on an even older platform. 6.5 out of 10! ;)
