Hi guys.
Nothing in the handbook about this.

Blue and Me volume is way too quiet, I can hardly hear the voice, so I turn "her" volume up and it's fine. Next time, it's too quiet again.

I press the "Windows" symbol on the steering wheel and "She" speaks and I can use voice control to do stuff. That is great, and I like it. Trouble is, when I've finished, the radio is blasting!

I don't have a bluetooth enabled mobile phone so will never make a call using the vehicle's hands free system so that isn't an issue here.

How do I turn the default Blue and Me volume up without affecting the sound system volume so the B+M volume remains high enough for next time?

Thanks,
Mick.

its in the menu button on the radio, press menu, scroll with up/down arrows for "exteral audio" and adjust that so its louder if i remember correctly the radio does go very loud to get it to work but is normal when out of the menu and voice control should be louder page 15 on the radio CD manual if it the same as the one i downloaded

Good morning, and thank you for getting back to me.

Having been trawling through this forum for an answer to my problem, I saw this thing about "external volume", but our radio/CD doesn't have it as a menu item.

Menu items are:
AF Switching on
System Reset
Radio off
Speech Volume
Volume Limit

Where do I find the radio/CD manual to download?

Regards,
Mick.

Pretty sure mine holds the last volume setting and I don't have the earlier version with ext vol menu. Perhaps yours doesent store it because your not using a Bluetooth phone - how are you connecting it?

As I said ...........

I'm not connecting anything to anything. Just radio and wanting to hear the B+M voice for the menu but it's always initially too quiet to hear whilst driving.

It's in the downloads section, but to save your fingers the walk I've gone and got one for you and put it here.
Thanks! :)
I've spent ages Googling and found nothing.

Trouble is, the menu described on page 15 that shows External Volume isn't on our radio.
Looking again this morning, we have a item called "AUX Audio Offset".

This doesn't seem to do anything with B+M.

Any more ideas?
I won't be back to the forum for a while ......... very busy today.

Thanks,
Mick

Hi again.
Busy yesterday with the local panto. I'm backstage and yesterday we were setting up.

In actual fact, I've bought a B+M TomTom 2 Live for the car, and I'm attempting to get to grips with the functions. It pairs fine and works fine, and now I'm trying to use voice commands for it. Trouble is, I can't hear the B+M voice loudly enough and by the time I've turned it up, the instuctions have finished. Each time I press the Windows symbol, the voice is back down quiet.

I see from the downloads section on here that there are two PDFs for the Radio/CD/MP3. One is for 2007 and the other for 2009. Without trawling through them, there are some differences ......... possibly only in the layout of the PDF. Both of them state the "External Volume" menu item.

As our 500 is a late 2011 model, maybe they altered the menu selections because "External Volume" definitely isn't there on ours.

Anyone know where I can find a later PDF, or at least a different one?

Thanks,
Mick.

Hi again.
Just come back from the car. It's frosty and cold out there!

Fixed it!

The External Volume menu item isn't there as I've said, but I already said earlier that there's a "Speech Volume" item.

That's the one to tweak, and that's the one that works.

My question still remains though, where is the applicable Radio/CD/MP3 instruction PDF? Obviously the ones I've seen aren't right for our 500.

Thanks,
Mick.

Neither of our two has a 'Speech Volume' setting in the audio menu (that's the MENU button not the AUD one) but both have 'Speed Volume' which adjusts the audio volume as speed rises. By the same token in neither car is the spoken resonse hard to hear, so I'm curious as to what's changed.

Mick; Does your car also have 'Speed Volume' in the settings?

Yep, it does.

It seems that all the Menu items are there except "External Volume", but in its stead, we have "Speech Volume".

My next question regarding our new TomTom is in the hands of TomTom support and I've updated my original query with them. I joined the TomTom forum but they couldn't help, so emailed Support.

My question with them is how can we get the radio or CD muted when the TomTom speaks his verbal instructions? If the TomTom is at 100% volume it's plenty load enough, but if the radio/CD is loud enough too, you can't hear the TomTom instructions properly. Why won't it mute the radio/CD? Also, why can't the TomTom speak through the sound system instead of the integral speaker?

Any road up, hopefully TomTom will get back to me on this.

Thanks,
Mick.

We don't have 'SpeechV olume' or 'External Volume'.

I'll be interested in what you come up with on the TomTom issues, mine is exactly the same and I'd just accepted the limitations.

The delights of portable IT these days! :)
I'm in the car (on the drive in front of the house) and have the radio on.

Here's our menu selection complete and in order:
AF Switching
System Reset
Radio Off
Speech Volume
On Volume Limit
Speed Volume
AUX Audio Offset
MP3 Display
Regional Mode
Traffic Info

Hopefully, everybody has a similar menu to this. It would be good if the instructions had any variations correctly annotated.

Regards to all,
Mick
