Sorry if I'm hogging the forum a bit today but with my bumper issues, one way or another the bumper has to come off again and I was just thinking to myself that those four slits above the number plate are crying out for some led running lights behind them.

Has anyone done this before. I'm thinking I could splice the wires with withe DRLs?

Anyone?

I'm thinking of something like this

I'll leave it to others to comment on the aesthetics, but be aware the Fiat CANBUS system is quite sensitive to the electrical characteristics of the lighting (resistance, impedance) and if you start splicing stuff like this in, you could end up with some error messages on the display.

They'll probably work, wired to the existing DRL's if you leave the bulbs connected. These cheap DRL's are useless (very dim and short lived), technically illegal (not E Marked) and even if you spring for Phillips etc with E-Mark, running four front marker lights is illegal.

Those slits are primarily to allow air to pass through to the radiator for engine cooling. Obstructing some or all of it is playing with the margins Fiat have engineered. Is it worth the risk?
No, I guess not, especially if it's illegal??

It was just a thought and seemed an ideal place to put a couple of LEDs

How about a Knightrider scanner?? Only joking:p

That slit is to allow air to the radiator. May look small but It does take a big volume of air in at speed. Don't cover it.
