Hi there,

Has anyone successfully removed a Fiat 500S Gear knob?

Picture of said gear knob included!

Had a little look about but nothing obvious comes to mind regarding taking it off

The top is stuck on, that needs levering off then an Allen key is needed to remove the knob from the lever as it is bolted to the top.

The top cap needs removing with sharp screwdriver and then this will reveal an Allen key. Undo the bolt and the knob and sleeve can be lifted off.
You can't really avoid damaging the top cap though.

I got mine off clean . (more luck than judgement I think)

I have an S with the silver part split so need to replace it. I've been looking at third party ones on eBay but they all seem to be the type that screws into a thread whereas the 500 has a bolt that goes into an internal thread. Can anyone recommend what type I can use? Thanks

Did you manage it?
I need to change mine, the chrome is flaking and it cut my finger open! Don’t want to spend the earth on a genuine fiat one so I was going to buy a ‘universal’ one on eBay but I’m worried they won’t fit because of the internal thread thing.

I ended up buying a generic leather one, similar to the Abarth. You have to remove the spring to fit it so you don't get the lift for reverse, it's exactly the same as the Abarth. Looks nice, but if you're used to having a spring takes bit of getting used to.
