As the above pics show the Mini and 500x both have a resemblance.

It would be nice for them to get this car right. I'm hoping the twin air doesn't find its way in here, it's not competitive enough to other manufactures engine on NVH - fine in the 500.

Also, the chassis potentially hobbles it also, we are yet to see a sweet riding/handling car come off this chassis - the Doblo runs on the same chassis so they could fit the I dependant rear suspension from that, but I doubt it.

Their are a lot of cars in this class now, they need to get it right and iron out all the silly niggles that blight it's current range.

Yup, I think the 500 shape could have made for a less blobby suv but hey ho. Would have a 4x4 normal 500....

Not for me. Bought a 500 to stand apart from the boxy, SUV/crossover type vehicles.

It should have a different name. This isn't a 500, or even a derivative, despite a few styling cues - Fiat is at risk of diluting the 500 brand.

9 speed auto? I'm guessing that's a CVT with "gears" rather than a true 9 speed auto ala mercedes....

It's the same (highly regarded) 9 speed from the new Jeep Cherokee, the 2015 Honda CRV and Range Rover Evoque, made by ZF:

If a Decent engine then our order will be in,

1.6 110bhp
1.4 MultiAir 140bhp
1.4 MultiAir 170bhp

1.3 Multijet 95bhp
1.6 Multijet 120bhp
2.0 Multijet 140bhp

I nearly choked when I saw they were launching a bigger car with a decently powered set of engines - usually they wait till a year after launch when everyone's read the 'underpowered' comments in reviews and then add the quicker engines - good choice I think :)

What's the difference between the two 1.4 Multiairs? Turbo & non turbo?

They're both turbo's :) I think it'd be a case of different maps and turbo's, but don't quote me on it. They're definitely both turbo though. The 170 MultiAir has been used in the Alfa Giulietta since launch in 2010, and is also used in the MiTo Cloverleaf/QV.

The 140 MultiAir has been used in the MiTo for the last few months, but I'm guessing it's the same as the 140 used in the Fiat Bravo & Lancia/Chrysler Delta for a time. The MiTo and Punto Evo/2012 Punto used a 135 MultiAir, and it'd be reasonable to assume the 140 is just an uprated version of this.

I noticed on the press release it says MultiAir II, which I assume is because they've carried out some modifications since the early versions, probably to the MultiAir units - a few people have had replacement MultiAir units under warranty.

thanks Liam, yeh I though the turbo was standard on the MA, I think MA2 refers to a revised inlet manifold arrangement. AFAIK the TA 105 is MA2 but not sure if it was rolled out across the range
