Hi there,

Wondering if someone can shed any light on removing the bootlid trim on my Fiat 500S (although all models will be the same). Bootlid trim being the contrasting part that is installed above the numberplate with the boot release underneath it.

Easy job? In all honesty ive not really had a look at the task, I tend to break things if I fire in about them! Just wondering if there is a guide or some advice/instructions?

Sorry, not much help here, I don't, but I'm guessing if you invest in a Haynes Manual, it might just give you the info you need.

I'm assuming here (a big assumption! :p) that your boot release has become defective and you are out of warranty?

Ours has broke less than 12 months after purchase, being fixed under warranty next week.

If you're referring to the chrome 'handle' in which are mounted the boot release switch and number plate lights it's not really difficult. Assuming it's similar to the 500C that is!

It's held in place by a couple of clips and secured by four 10mm nuts. Once you have the interior trim off you should be able to find the nuts by feel if you can't see them. A small ratchet socket driver is handy. Once the nuts are off you'll need to unclip the wiring loom from the part and pull it away from the body. I did it when my boot release switch failed but I couldn't fix it. It was repaired under warranty by the simple expedient of replacing the whole 'handle'.
