General Water In O/S Front Foot Well

General Water In O/S Front Foot Well

I think the pipe had slid down ever so slightly, probably due to the aforementioned pressure.

As the op stated, the bottom of the rectangular securing slot is then exposed, but just by a tiny amount so water seeps, runs down the hose & gets straight to the sound deadening.

IMO, the securing slot is a mm or 2 too long.

I'll still try to get the sill plastic off later. GT & Brera are both on daily duties now.

I miss the 500. She's my fave if I'm honest :D

One thing I meant to say is when you remove the rubber pipe from the heater box, the air & moisture comes out under pressure so I think blowback is the issue, especially in humid weather when the a/c is taking lots of moisture out of the air.

Hmm.

I always thought the other end of the drain was just open to the air underneath the car - so if there is any blowback when you remove the pipe, it would suggest to me that there's a blockage somewhere.

The drain is under the car. Just like in the GT, it's a flap that's semi closed.

It relies on the pressure from the expelled air & moisture to open it.

With that hose from the heater box slid down & the tiny hole exposed, some of the moisture just takes the first exit whilst the bulk of it still runs out under the car.

I find that rather alarming. Previous experience with a drain hose in another vehicle leads me to think it's a bad idea to have a flap over the exit. In that case a simple open pipe clogged at the top with a mixture of hair and black gunk (not unlike unbunging a bathroom sink!) which I was able to remove with a piece of wire. It was draining adequately during the 'off' season but in humid weather I'd get wet feet during left hand turns.

I haven't looked - is it possible to remove the flap?

Oh no!
A/C pipe again, or rain water?
Been raining a lot in the last week or so...
Let us know what is found.
As said in previous post, dealer may not dry out footwell particularly well, so keep dehumidifier on standby.

Footwell is sodden again. Will have to be a dealer job.

So much for this turning out to be a simple fix(n). Condolences.

Will this be covered under the third year warranty though??

I guess you'll just have to ask the dealer.

But IMO it most certainly should be, unless the water ingress is due to poorly repaired accident damage or windscreen replacement.

The fact you even have to ask the question shows just how out of date Fiat's warranty policy is in the modern world (n)(n).

Taking the car in tomorrow. Leaving it there for as long as needs be.

Question - should I remove the jubilee clip aircon hose mod first:confused:

Depends on your relationship with the dealer, if you know them well I might be inclined to leave it on and explain that you did the mod but it dident solve the problem, at least they'll know to look elsewhere.

Hi i work for fiat i own a 500 as well it was a recall the water leaks from the rear bumper bracket which is bolted to the car and then leaks into the car hope this helps.
