yeah for a 2008-2009 cant see it being more than 5 k and if it is you can always haggle and negotiate off list price. Mind you, I would assume quite a lot of repairs would be needed for such a Fiat 500!step daughter showing an interest

Yep, there might be 79 sub £5k 500s, but look how many are CAT D or bog standard pops with high mileages*. £5k for a 7 year old base spec city car with some long mileages ain't that great. I think you;d struggle to find a "decent one" on that budget- try adding a grand.
My old 500 with 44k on was up at 7.5k, now 7k- and that wasn't exactly a loaded example.
I could think of many, many better second hand buys for that sort of money.
*And yes, I know some aren't, but the general trend <is>. Before someone points out the obvious.
near identical panda is approx. 40% of that..!! ;-)

There's 84 under-£5k 500's on fleabay at the moment. Some are Pops and some are Lounges or Sports with either high miles or they've had a little shunt.
However the car doesn't know it's a city car. Arguably a higher-mileage one is a better sign than an ultra low miler... it means it's been used regularly and for longer journies, which cars like, vs. short and/or infrequent journies, which they don't.
61,000m on a 1.4 Sport ..
41,000 on a Lounge (CatD.... but so what?)..
130,000 on a Diesel...
It's not unrealistic to go shopping with £5000 and expect to get something haf decent.. so just have a look and get step-daughter into one of these, rather than a blando-box..
