ok guys i did a search on this one and only found one thread on it but it was for the ritmo model

i have a 2013 fiat 500 sport, bought two weeks ago and im happy with it.
however curious to know, this sport mode button is it ok to leave it on always cos quite frankly i like the car more this way, its too sluggish without it on.
so is it safe just to leave it always on?

thanks all
anastasia

I turn it off when cruising - saves fuel but I know why you want it left on. ;)

It won't save any fuel if you drive the car faster, nor will it make a car any faster. All it does is change the throttle mapping at lower throttle inputs which means you have to put your foot down further to get the same response.

Cruising - relaxed driving at steady speeds and no need to stop and start.

Sport button runs a seperate engine map on the ECU like Maxi say better throttle respose, may dump a bit of extra fuel in at wide open etc.

the 'City' button is Fiat's Duel drive electric powersteering which runs a different program on the steering computer to allow the electric power steering to provide more or less assistance. this has nothing to do with making the car more sporty and almost all fiats (those with electric powersteering)have had this since 2000
