Hi just wondering i have my car lowered a few years ago and it's always veering to the left i have the factory tyres still on it with 55,000km on them and they have a little camber wear. has anyone else had this problem as no-one can find the fault part from maybe the tyres as i might lower it more with the sportline kit.
Thanks
55,000km on the same tyres the car left the factory on? Equivalent miles works out at 34,175 miles, which to be honest, is pretty good for a single set of tyres. I'm lucky if I ever get more that 25,000 miles out of a set!
Anyway, how many miles has the car done? Only reason I ask is that people think that suspension setups just go on and on and on. There is a common misconception for instance that shock absorbers or dampers or struts, whatever you want to call them, last forever, they don't! I've just replaced (yes, I did the job myself) the factory fitted struts to my own car (non Fiat) at just under 40k (miles) because of a broken coil spring and discovered that one of the shocks was kaput, i.e, when I compressed the piston, it wouldn't return fully under its own steam, the other one was ok, but you would never replace just one shock or coil because doing that could upset the whole suspension set up. The point I'm making, any garage could tell you the shocks are ok, but they can't know for sure unless they take them out. Oh and don't rely on the 'bounce' test, that has no relevance anymore. Also ARB bushes, drop links, tie rod ends and lower arms could be worn which could cause steering issues.
Are the wheels balanced correctly?
Any noticeable lumps/bumps or uneven wear on the tyres? Are they inflated to the correct pressures?
As a starting point, you could just take the car for a four wheel laser alignment. Not sure how much it costs in your part of the world, but here, costs anywhere between GBP 60 to 100.
