A 5-door 500 (that doesn't look as ugly as the XL or whatever it's called) would be most welcome. Definitely going on my wishlist.

I thought I'd be doing most of my driving solo or with 1 passenger, but I find I'm car pooling with 2 or 3 friends a lot more these days, and the constant shifting of the seats to get in and out is a bit tiresome. Still good fun seeing people crammed into the back of the little buggy of course :D

That is exactly what many of my U.S. counterparts are asking for, a foor door 500 that isn't as ugly as the 500L (what the car is called here, not sure of the European designation). Americans generally aren't very keen on cars with only two doors. I like them, but I'm the minority :D

Pinch of salt taken, what concerns me about the article is the fact that this new five door 500 is going to use the Punto platform rather than a stretched version of the existing one.

That indicates to me that the gearstick is not going to be as high up, which IMO is one of the best features of the 500/Panda by a country mile.

Also seems sad that the Punto name is going to be ditched by the sound of it?:(

Now that would be sad...

...unless, of course, FIAT then come back with something that really can compete with other cars in the sector, in a couple of years time....

I expect I'm more likely to see a flock of pigs flapping past the house, first, though.... :bang:

Coming soon: the 500XXXL -- the size of a Croma estate; and with seven seats.... Surely they can't call everything a 500? What's next -- the Panda...?

It's not completely made up though, they have directly quoted a guy from Fiat Group design in the article.

Yes, there's nothing concrete yet, and the quotes attributed to Fiat are a bit "wink wink, nudge nudge", but it's not pie in the sky IMO.

Not really, all they did was cobble together one of their famous crappy photoshops.......

Ooh let's make up a story about a Ferrari Dino http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/ferrari/27805/ferrari-420-dino

It should be plainly obvious for anyone to see that Auto Express revealing "exclusive" shots or announcing an upcoming model should be taken with a bag of salt.

The 500 Lardy might be fine for people with dodgy hips, but the styling won't wash with fashion conscious kiddies who loved the original GP which was styled by Giugiaro.

Please stop posting Auto Express stuff.... please.....

Maxi actually you should get your facts right! both of those are bad photoshops I have the original one below and its of the new Smart Roadster.
