You mean this? They are taking a last look at it and if it's not stopping the leak that is that.

Yep thats the one. Is yours 5 or 6 speed? if 5 speed it should be an L shapre (the entire unit), as part sits over the top of the box, and the pump and reservoir comes down the front normally.

all 500's have 5 speed dualogic.

haha so latest update. I have an apointment with Fiat main dealer on Thursday to have diagnostics check. Lets see what they say, they are a long time fiat dealer so maybe they have more dualogic experience than bosch service, who were excellent but basically said, short of replacing the whole unit we dont know what to do anymore = ) If indeed the whole unit needs to be replaced, i want fiat involved as this has been going on for a long time and indeed broke the first time whilst under warranty.

just a question. as you see from the oil reservoir in the picture there is no cap on it, you can put oil in direcctly. Is that normal? Or does there need to be a cap there.

Yes should be a small round cap on the top.

My car is smoking!!! no warnings on car coolant and oil topped up called mechanic he said it must be spilt oil as there is oil everywhere from the gearbox work yesterfay. Should I be worried ? Car was working fine I only got worried when I saw smoke coming out the front !!

Can't see any puddles of oil below car and gears are working so there must be oil in the system oil has barbecue smell to it

Only if it's in an enclosed public place, in which case your car could get a £2500 fine .

Seriously, I wouldn't worry, at least no more so than usual.

It's probably just oil burning off the exhaust & heatshields.

Look on the bright side - if it catches fire, at least you'll be able to claim on the insurance .

Hahaha that's what I was thinking the car is insured for 9000 euros if I get 7 I would be happy ! The smoke went everywhere and the interior as well through the vents so I left it outside in the cold with the windows slightly open to get some 'fresh air' after I kept the engine bay open for 10 minutes most of the smoke disappeared anyway

Pressure wash the engine bay and see if it continues. If the mechanic says there's oil everywhere there probably is

I saw it myself the whole dualogic system was covered in oil

Yes, Fiat main dealer confirmed the problem charged me 30 euros for the diagnostics and told me the whole unit needs to be replaced.

Now spoke with Fiat Greece to see if they will help contribute to the repair.


Garage quoting 1500 Euros to fix the entire selespeed system, but noted that gearbox may need some fixing as well, costing around 2000 euros total, cant say exactly.
Let's see what Fiat says.

Would be interested to see what they say is wrong with the gearbox to need 2000 euro of work.

Will normally be an issue with one and not the other, so make sure they're not just changing bits and charging you for the sake of it!

no gearbox + selespeed for 2000 euros = )

The thing is i am noticing a leak in the gearbox in addition to the leak in the selespeed. It seems there are 2 separate leaks! What a mess.
I called the other Fiat dealer now to give me a detailed quote was booked in for Wednesday but the problem is the car is leaking again right now so to avoid breaking down again I told them if its possible to have a look tomorrow onwards as its getting desperate. They agreed, so taking it 8 am tomorrow. They will call Fiat CS from there once they have the car.

So Fiat dealer 1 2000 euros, lets see what Fiat dealer 2 says.

To be honest the gearbox seems fine to me, all the gears are working normally but need to know why its leaking. Maybe its only the selespeed system thats leaking who knows haha seriously i am confused now. i would need to open the bottom of the car myself to see.
