re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Thats just how its behaving, was there a fix for the stilo?

No, it was just the way it seemed to be mapped and a common problem on the 1.6 Stilo. However I've not heard of any similar issues with the 1.2 500. Never had anything like that on my 1.2 500.
You must have a fixable fault with yours that your dealer needs to sort out.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

It may be an issue which can be resolved by having the throttle body relearn done which is easy for anyone to do, it might not do anything on a 500 however!

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Thanks for replies, trip to dealer I think.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Is your car auto or manual ? There is a thread on here from dualogic owners with this problem i.e when pulling out into a roundabout the engine would miss a beat as though it was going to stall.

That's happened to me a few times in my Dualogic 500C TwinAir and I think that's due to the car being in the wrong gear (too high a gear I think?), not really a lack of throttle response as such.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Yes I agree, you have to make sure its in first and not second.I have paddles on mine and its great for roundabouts for this reason.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Wife took car in and fault cleared by dealer.Software I believe, now OK.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Hi,my wife has had her new 500s 1.2 for 2 weeks now and has exactly the same problem. She actually thought it may be the way she was drivng the car so i'm just glad to hear someone else has had the problem as well and sorted it..call to the dealers then:(

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

I've currently got a brand new (150 miles on the clock) 1.2 Popular while the dealers fix the issues issue with my Abarth 500 that they should have done before I got it (but thats another story!), I have found exactly the same issue with it when pulling away, push the throttle and go to pull off and it bogs right down (almost stalled a few times!) as the revs don't increase then it's like it realises you've pushed the throttle and the revs shoot up to about 3-4k, I just put it down to it being a: very new and tight and b: not as powerful\responsive as my Abarth, maybe they improve once they get a few miles under their belts cos it's actually not to bad for a 1.2 once it's up and moving!

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

I had my 500 for 500 miles now and it had the same fault. Looked over it this weekend and found the inlet manifold to be missing a stud. Fitted a new one and all seems good.

Bottom stud on nearside of manifold.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Did you have any luck with dealer,as ours is still not right.

Just had a look and there appears to be one missing near to the battery, was this the same as yours?

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Yeah Sounds like your is in the same area. Manifold comes down to point, its the stud there that was missing on mine. Had my other half roadtest to check how she got on and it seems to be fixed, might take it back to the dealer to get them to replace the gasket, but if its ok I might just leave it..

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

Must be from the same batch of engines,I will book it in dealer next week. Thanks for info.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

No problem. Hope it fixes it. If its the same throttle response issue that I've been having for 2 weeks I don't know how you lasted with the car since December. I was beginning to dread pulling away on a slight incline.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

We dont do much stop start driving and very few hill starts but its been a pain on roundabouts. It has got to be fixed this time.I have spoken to the dealer and e-mailed Fiat.It is going in next week.

re: Euro6 1.2 Throttle Response & Hill Start Issues

I have been having the same sort of problem with my new Panda Easy. you can see my posts regarding this on the forum under 'New Yesterday' in the Panda section. I have now done just over 1000 miles in it, it is very easy to stall, very slow to pick up in the 1000 to 2500 rev range, occasionally when picking up there are two surges of power. City driving is a real pain, other vehicles have left us behind before it will pick up. Getting onto roundabouts and pulling out of junctions is a bit like Russian roulette. On hill starts, when you can get the car to pull away the engine is very flat.

Some other Pandas seem to be having the same problem, it has been back to the dealer a couple of times, the ECU software has been updated, with no apparent improvement. We contacted Customer Services and I have be told over the phone that this is a known problem and they are trying to develop a software fix. I have asked them to put this in writing. They said that anyone experiencing a problem should go to their dealer and make sure that it has been logged with Fiat. My daughter now has my old Panda which has always run extremely well, uses less petrol and is like a racing car compared to our new one. It would be great if it turned out to be a simple problem such as you have had, but I would have thought that if the engine was sucking air there would be other problems as well.

Could you add a post to my thread please?

It’s the heavier body, the electronic throttle, longer gearing and torque that is higher up in the rev band which has killed it. The relentless crusade on emissions is to blame here! The old panda's engine is much more responsive, eager, more economical and quicker in the real world.

The software update on my new panda helped but it’s still nowhere near like the old one in terms of driveability and that’s coming from an old 2004 panda with 115k on the clock, to a new 2012 one with 30k. I’m glad I still have my old one!
