What is the difference between the Fiat strut top mounts and the Abarth ones.
They have a different part no but look the same. If you search aftermarket it's one part no for all 500's Abarth or not.
I'm fitting Abarth SS Koni FSD kit to my 500 TA. Which top mounts should I use?
Pls help.
Thanks.

It is likely that the Abarth ones place the top rod in a different position to change the caster or camber, or both, to give different characteristics for the different performance.
Or it could be different rubber compound.

Aftermarket suppliers either do not know or do not care about the difference. To keep the handling as Fiat intended, use the genuine ones until aftermarket catch up.

They're exactly the same part. I've had them both fitted to mine and there's absolutely no difference. They provide the same geometry and they wear out just as quickly.

Thanks J.
Did you use the existing spring seats (between the top mount and spring) or get new ones when you swapped your springs out?

By the way, I got the standard ones from the Fiat dealer and they have a Ford logo on them! Bearings say Rollax Germany. Bgunn said that 'Fiat' ones are SKF bearings. Wonder if any better/worse?

Might have changed suppliers, I bought some Lemforder ones a while back and they had the fiat logo ground off and had Rollax bearings.

Or maybe the 'Ford' logo ground off? Lol

Nice to see I'm not alone with top mount grumbling..! I've just taken my struts out and found a) I cant shift the nut on top of the bearing :bang: (I don't have pneumatic impact driver / trust spring compressors / want to wreck it...!) and b) the bearings point in different directions..! (They don't match... so one may have been replaced previously... but which one?)
I'll get my garage to shift the nut but which way does it point? They're Lemforder mounts for an 08 1.4 sport and only fit two ways.. they have a point on them... and my assumption would be for that to point forward..? but I can't find any drawings / instructions to confirm that and you know what they say about assume..!
Any help before I put it all back together is greatly appreciated...

Is its the mount you're meaning?
If it is the tab faces out to the side of the car and the arrow must face rearwards

Thanks John202020.... I would have got that completely wrong..! The grumbly mount is the one incorrectly fitted.. maybe why it failed? The other side is OK but I like to replace stuff as a pair (on the basis that its probably soon to follow.. )

Whilst it's unlikely to be different this info is for my standard 1.2 just to clarify. The picture was taken from my how to change a front strut, in the guides section.
