General Australian 500 owners!

Has no power? Sounds odd. When you put in sport it's more dynamic to drive. Is it auto or manual?
in sport mode it has more power getting up the hills etc, its auto and has 1020ks on it on thursday it has 850 and i drove all day on sports mode was trying to get my ps. a friend said i should go to the fiat dealer and see if there is a problem with it. i didnt get my ps on thursday because i left it in normal mode and couldnt overtake a truck and didnt want to be in sports mode because its too easy to speed lol.

Sorry to resurrect the thread, just wanted to see if us australian 500 owners could get together, i'm Matt, in Victoria, Melbourne. Drive a red TA :) hopefully we can organise a meet up :)

Hi there - 1st post / new owner here.

I've had my 500S for a week now and it's a blast.

Tested out the Thule roof racks this morning with one of my kayaks and while it fits quite well I think I'll work out some front and back tiedowns before venturing too far.

Nice one. You would want tie downs for that for longer trips. Worked fine with a 4 metre ski on mine for the 1km run to the beach.

I have just sold our 500 Lounge.

If anyone is after a set of genuine LaPreAlpina roof bars in Melbourne let me know. 1 year old in excellent condition. Open to offers. They are on Gumtree but is probably not kosher to post a link here.

Look at my remodelled rear end!
Got a minor rear ender whilst sitting in traffic, then a millisecond later got a double rear ender, poor little pop.
Goes in this week for assessment and repairs, unless they find more damage and chuck it.
Suppose lucky i wasn't on my bike!
:)

Yeah, what lurks behind that mess could be interesting, definitely the beaver panel buckled, i meant to check my insurance if it's new for old replacement in the first few years, new one would be nice lol, still drives meanwhile.
:)

If that was here it would probably be written off, my concern is the damage to the boot floor?

Not necessarily, depends on damage and age.

I've seen far worse repaired (y)
We don't have new for old here

Actually a fair number of UK policies have new vehicle replacement covers if the vehicle it a total loss within the 1st 12 months of registration and you're the first owner.

Gap insurance, can also be purchased for longer than 3 years for those that wish - I've got 5 years on my car :)

After assessment they're going to repair my rear ended Pop, I'm glad as it is a fun thing. Going to take 5 days for the parts to come from Melbourne to Gold Coast, that sounds like a cheap freight method lol, but should be ready in 2 weeks.
I'm meanwhile still driving a friends pop in loan, the model before mine, one thing I've found, my radio or aerial is crap, it's got interference at every traffic lights, this previous model (has a longer aerial)seems totally fine in comparison!
I do have new for old replacement insurance but it's limited and if it were scrapped i would've missed out on getting a new one, so I'm glad it's repairing. (New one's going for 19k,my limit is 17k, but won't need it on this occasion luckily)
Happy :)

Re: Australian 500 owners! ACT calling

Picking up our 500S on Friday, and wondering how many Canberra 500 owners are on the forum? Also looking for any hints and tips on the TomTom system which comes with the car.

I usually do a breakie catch-up with Audi owners (our other transport is an S3) and would be keen on catching up with any Fiat / 500 owners :)

Hey guys. Sometime Next year I'm considering a road trip in the fiat.
I'm from Melbourne and want to drive all the way to surfers paradise. Reckon the car can go the distance? It's a 1.2 pop.

Also will be planning to got to Alice springs from Melbourne too.
Any tips?

Furthest I've driven in this car was from melb to Sydney. Absolutely no problems at all even I was quite comfortable.
