I only buy tools when I need them. But if you're bored and fancy turning some up, go for it.

I've owned my car for just over 2 years and not felt the need to take the head unit out (yet). The suspension has been apart, though!
Will be fitting GPS Tracking device to the 500
It has a sim card in it and it will call your mobile (cell phone) if the car is moved when it is "armed" and it sends you its GPS location.
It also has facility to disable something like a fuel pump which you activate by calling the sim number from your mobile.
It will not activate over 30kph for safety reasons but I will probably just connect the disable feature to turn the horn on
Anyway, all this requires is for the unit to be mounted under the dash and its small aerial to be mounted with the unit out of sight if it is under a non metalic surface or on top of the dash if it is metal.
Either way the dash has to come out and before that the radio and a/c control panel like this

Whilst my panel looks like this

I hope it comes out the same way

That's fine it's always good to help others out, good news is I managed to fine one of the radio things and have took it out. The radio is a Blaupunkt Fiat 312 SB05 S&S Ivory, I have also included a photo of the AUX Lead connection and it showing the AUX on the radio.

Thanks again. I shall order the SB05 unit I found.

I see that your lead has a yellow connector and is connected on the inside port. I have a cable with a yellow connector and a blue one for the outside port so it will be interesting to see if there is any difference.

From what I have read that seems the one to go for. You will need the 3.5mm jack to go with it to... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fiat-500-Aux-IN-Input-Adapter-IPOD-MP3-AUX-Connector-3-5mm-Jack-Plug-/251122376300

But I have not see or heard of anybody with one and it working. I don't know what sound quality is like, static noise etc

I have bought this and fitted it. Took about ten minutes in total, including routing the cable tidily.
It seem to work fine from my phone (Samsung mini) in the drive. I will try it later on the road with an mp3 player.
Thanks for the tip Puntostar.(y)

I ordered and fitted the used SB05 head unit and am pleased to report that it is working for AUX input through the yellow connector. Initially it was very hissy but after I turned off the Rock EQ that went away. I also had to turn the external volume boost up to 20.

I guess this proves that the new Bosch SB12 head units don't support auxiliary in.

Do you have a cable With a Yellow or blue connector? I tried both but only the Yellow one worked.

I have the yellow one. Same one from the ebay link which was posted...

Pressing cd more than once i still see no source available.

Does it sense when the connector is in or should aux work regardless

My fiat is also a UK 2009 (59 plate) model - same as Wong, so I should be able to get this Aux thing to work....

Bump

Could someone who has this working kindly post all the details on the back of the head unit as I have, that way I can determine what type I need

Hi.
gurdain,
I seem to have the same problem that you do.
Were you able to figure out a solution?

I can't find any sources when the cable is connected.
thank you.

No...Was thinking of buying one off ebay but clearly its not just the model that should match...must be something to do with year of manufacture...would appreciate if anyone has a model that works with aux if they could post all the details, model year etc shown on the unit that might help others like me

My sister really wants aux, doesnt want to use a non factory unit and doesn't want to use an fm transmitter

I've got AUX working on my girlfriend's '09 1.2 Pop, but I had to modify a Blaupunkt connector. I've just had a look through my phone pictures from when I fitted it, but haven't got any photos with more details. Sorry.

My daughter's got an 09 Pop, and would like me to fit an aux cable. Can you explain what you meant by modifying a Blaupunkt connector. I thought it was just a question of removing the head unit and plugging in a yellow ended cable like this one;

Adding an aux adapter won't affect the CD player will it? Where did you run the cable out?

Thanks

That looks like the right connector. When I did it there weren't Fiat specific ones, so I got a blue connector and had to slice off some of the keys.

You should be able to run it to the shelf on the passenger side. I ran mine to the far left of the dash, where I installed the black box for the Alpine EZIDAB - I then ran the iPod cable from the black box to the shelf on the passenger side.
