Hi people was wanting to ask if any of you have had the same problem, I've owned this car since birth 2008 and I'm well out of my warranty.

Ok so after christmas my car had been off the road for 3 weeks did'nt use it over festive period.
When i jumped in it last week and turned the ignition, it started fine as per usual but my warning light indicated rear number plate light was out.

So i replaced it and it ran ok for three days then i notice the check number plate bulbs error again - and again two blown bulbs. I wondered if this is connected to a problem as I have been putting up with a faulty boot for a while, won't open with the door opening but will open with just the boot opening button. But now this too has escalated to opening when I'm either just starting the engine or stopping the engine.

Which makes me wonder if the two are related e.g on same fuse/relay etc. or could it be possible the battery (being the original one) is sending out spikes which are causing these bulbs to blow and boot servo to open boot.
Any ideas about this or has this happened to any of you lot out there??

The wires that go between the body and the boot will have chafed.
Take the rubber covering off and assess the damage. You will need to solder up any wires and replace damaged ones or get an auto electrician to do it...don't take it to fiat as they will charge loads.

Ian, you win the Clint Eastwood Award for good, succinct advice.

Thanks for giving me a direction here, I had read a while back on the forum of someone who was put through the wringer with this problem and the dealer, so hopefully a good auto electrician can sort the wiring for not too much.

Thanks again:)
