The drivers door handle on our car (58 reg sport) has fallen off this week!! The passenger one is loose. The Lincoln dealers say the have had one other.I would think that there must be many more! Any one else

Is it me or have they been removed? It must be a big problem. A week ago I called into Stoneacre's Lincoln to tell them about the handles.I was asked to bring the car in to let them see it.When asked, they said that they had 1 other car with the problem.
I think that may be an understatement!

Today I took the day off work and did a 40 mile round trip to Lincoln. The receptionist rang service. I was told that there was nobody free to look at the car.It had to be booked in.I was not told that a week ago!I then went to the parts department to order a set of wheel plates (the 3rd set needed so far!!!)I was telling the young man in parts how angry I was when the guy behind ,sat at a desk ,joined in It turned out that he was the service manager who had spoken to the receptionist. I said to him "The car is just outside your door, can you not come and just confirm that the handles are coming off" He didn't have time!!!Words fail me!

When I arrived home I tried to ring Fiat. The number in my handbook was no longer active. I rang Stoneacre to ask for Fiat's number. They gave it to me. Not a current number!! I rang Stonacre's head office to complain. They didn't have Fiat's number ,but said they would ring me back with it.They did. I rang Fiat .The man on the phone as very pleasant and said he would call me back.He called a little later to say that they would look into my problem and ring me back within 48 hours.I will let you know the outcome.I have never wanted a Fiat in the past ,but my Wife liked the 500 when she first saw it.It's her car and she has enjoyed it.I am very dissapointed with Stoneacre and will not buy from them again.

I had taken the car to the Lincoln dealer last Monday They confirmed that both handles needed replacing .The cost would be over£240. The service manager said that He would see if Fiat would contribute to the cost.Later in the day I had a call from the dealer to say that Fiat would not help.I then tried to ring Fiat customer service who I had spoken to before Xmas. They,I was told, were closed until after new year. On Thursday, before I had time to try them again ,customer services rang me! They advised that they were still waiting for a call from the dealer to tell them what was required ,and at what cost. The next call was to say that Fiat would supply the handles if I would cover the labor cost.I'm happy with that ,so accepted the offer. The young man in customer services has also sourced a near side handle which was on back order. Very good service which has impressed me and restored my faith in Fiat.

Nice one. So how much did you pay in the end?

It is a shame ow the attitude from some dealers really reflects badly on Fiat.

Cold it be that many are dealers who deal with multiple brands, so are not that reliant on Fiat for their business to survive?

I bought a 2012 Punto on the back of good service from Motor Services of Chepstow who sold my wife her 60 plate 500 in June. The chrome was bubbling on the passenger door handle of the 500 and they replaced it under warranty in about 45 minutes flat!
