Sorry if my story is too long, but I wanted to explain it to you.

Maby some of you will remember me. Back in July I wanted to know if choosing ivory roof for 500C is a good idea and if it is easy to keep the roof clean. My mother wanted to buy a 500 or 500C in Volare blue. Well, now I want to write you the truth.
Back in July (when I wrote the original topic) we already had our car on order. We wanted to buy the convertible, but the salesman made us worry about keeping the roof clean, so we decided to buy the hatchback. The date was 04.07.2012. I am sure that all you 500 fans know, why this date is quite special. Well, I didn't know about it at that time, only found out about it few days later. But back to the story.

We ordered our 500 in the following spec:
Lounge with TwinAir in Volare Blue with black chequered seats and ivory ambiance (we wanted to choose blue chequered seats, but they are no longer available on series 2 cars)
Extra cost options:
Volare Blue paint
Electric sunroof
ESP
Chrome finish door mirrors
Passenger seat with memory
Leather gearknob
Fire extinguisher
Complete vehicle protection for transport
Rear parking sensors and fog lights are included in the Lounge spec in our country
The price: 16,010 Euro minus Fiat Eco discount (the call it that way) of 2,810 Euro and dealer discount of 640 Euro was 12,560 Euro + free 500 floormats from the dealer

Edit: Delivery date was listed as September 2012

Even though we had our 500 on order, I still though that our decision was not right. And that the 500C would be a better choice. And after posting my original topic I was even more sure about this. After nearly three weeks of talking to my mother about it, she finnaly decided to change her order to convertible. She made a call to the dealer. The salesman told her, that it is no longer possible to change anything in our order and that the car is sheduled to be build during the last week of August. This was at the end of July and as you know, Fiat factory is closed for three weeks in August, so it sounded real. I was a bit angry that we can't change our order anymore, but decided to live with that.

Just one week before our car was sheduled to be build I went to the dealer to order three items from accessories, that we wanted to have:
Torino key cover
Hook hanger
Alarm

I had a good talk with the salesman about Fiat 500, TwinAir engine and cars in general. He appeared to be good and fair person.
I also asked the salesman how long it will take to deliver our car after it will be build. His answer was 14 days. I live in Slovakia and Poland is our neighbour country from the north, so I was sure, that it can't take them much longer. We had no contact from the dealer at the start of September. On 12. September I was in the town where they are located (30 km from our town) so I went to the dealer. Salesman was not there at the time, only his colleague who couldn't tell me more, only that our car is now finished and when our salesman will be back, he will call my mother.

We had no contact from them for the rest of the week. I was back in that town on 17. or 18. September (don't remember exactly), so I went back to the dealer. Salesman was there this time. He told me that our car is finished and our accessories are there. I asked him, when our car will be delivered to which he told me, that people above him need to organize the logistics and this will be finished the next week. When I asked him, why he didn't call my mother, he told me, that he had no new informations. Yea, really good reason to remain silent. When I'm looking at this visit to the dealer in retrospect, I do remember, that when he saw me and I asked him about our car, he appeared to be quite nervous and didn't want to talk to me much. This was strange, especially when I compare it to my visit from August. I also remember, that during my previous visit from 12. September, that the salesman's colleague was quite nervous too and there were two more people from the company at his desk at that time. Most likely people from management. These were there even during my last visit. But I didn't pay too much attention to it at that time.

So what happened next? Guess what, we had no contact from them during the next week. The first week of October came and still no contact (at this time they were past delivery date). The second week came and no contact. And the same this week. Today both me and my mother went to the dealer. And we were armed with interesting informations. An interesting story appeared in one magazine this week. This company was (supposedly) financed by a brother of our prime minister. His company won a contract to build a part of motorways close to this town (mainly bridges I think). And this company (supposedly) didn't pay its suppliers. Not only that, it jumped away from this company (dealer) and his company is now listed as owned by one of the so called "white horses" (usualy poor people whose names are used to be listed as owners of a company for some fee - practice used by people with strange income in grey economy - you know what I mean). What this means? It looks like our dealer now has financial problems.

When we came to the dealer our salesman again appeared to be nervous. When my mother asked him about our car, he told us, that it was build. When we asked him where it is, he told us: in the central storage in Poland. So it is sitting there for over one month now. So you may understand, that this is 100% sure not a normal situation. My mother asked him about financial problems. He said, that he has no idea about anything like that. My mother was quite angry at this moment, but stayed calm and politely told him, that we would like to cancel our order. He needed to speak with somebody from management. He came back and said, that both trade manager and owner promise, that our car will be here by the end of next week.

I'm not sure how exactly this works, but it looks like they either have no money to bring the car here, or no money to pay for the car. I am not sure, if we will be able to get our car next week. But my mother is so upset by this, that she will not be able to enjoy the car anymore. So, what do you suggest us to do next? We had to pay 1300 Euro when we ordered the car and we are not sure, if they are going to return this money to us when we cancel the order. Please, let me know, what would you do next. Thanks

PS. Sorry if there are any mistakes in my english, it is not my first language.

The problem is that as we don't lnow how the car business work in your country, or consumer protectrion law, or general law and rights relating to the sale of goods, it is very hard for us to advise you.

If you were in the UK I'd say to call Fiat head office to start with.
