Anyone had any experience in tuning a TwinAir engine? I've had mine several months and want a little more out of it.

Looking at exhaust systems, I've found a few, Ragazzon being one. It's such a unique engine note that I want to exploit it a bit.

Also, on the induction side of things, how easy would it be to install an aftermarket one?

ECU-wise what sort of bhp/torque gains are possible without shredding gears?!

From what I understand of the technology involved, I think you can forget it.

Can that be right? Given that there is a higher-powered version of the TA lurking it must be posible to fiddle with it, surely?

Doubt it - as I understand it, everything is computer controlled - valve timing, lift, etc as well as all the induction and mixture and ignition parameters - I suspect you mess with that at your peril.

a quick google search reveals this

:yeahthat:
Would be inclined to agree with this.

A thread on here.
The Group N is not really my cup of tea.
Personally I would prefer the exhaust standard so that you can 'hear' the sound of the engine.

Since you're a mechanic judging by your first post you've probably looked at the rated 150Nm figures for the C514 gearbox and compared them with the current 145Nm output. There isn't much leeway. On the 103bhp model AFAIK it uses a higher rated 190Nm C514R gearbox which can take the extra torque. Previous discussion on here.

You might have summarised it best yourself...
But I'm hearing horror stories of gearboxreplacements before brake pad replacements from fiatmechanics... so I'm very sceptical of adding TOO much.

Given the lack of ESP on the TA (unless it's specified as an extra) and the standard suspension and brakes from the 1.2 I personally would leave a TA in its standard tune.

Has anyone fitted an aftermarket air filter to their TA?

I'm not really fussed about more power but would like to increase the rather nice sound track of the TA.

I was surprised to see that performance air filters do exist for the Twin Air. In cotton gauze you have BMC and K&N. Might give a little rasp. No one on the FF that I'm aware of has fitted one yet.

Yeah, I'm pretty skeptical about more than 100bhp in that 'box. There seems to be a nice note out of some Ragazzon exhaists, but then some sound a bit dump, to say the least!

I found a Bailey Blow Off Valve from a Hawk-eye Subaru Impreza. Was thinking about playing around and trying to fit it, but can't find the egr in the TA engine, it's that tightly packed!

Just on that note, anyone fitted a BOV to their TA yet?

I might have been wrong about getting more bhp 'safely' out of the standard Twin Air judging by the figures quoted for the 500L (Click here).

Re the BOV I get the same effect with a crankcase breather on a 155TB but on the Multi-air model another MiTo owner couldn't replicate it.

Here's a thread elsewhere on the FF (Click here).
