As per title all those who are on 1.2 /1.4 Euro 5 engines Halfords have 4l of Castrol edge for £32.79 (with the 20% off)

http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/s...Id_165581#tab2

meets SAE 5W-40 ACEA C3 synthetic oil to FIAT 9.55535-S2

It's also suitable for the Twin Air and the Euro 4 1.4 i.e. all petrol models.

It was also listed as the recommended viscosity for the standard Abarth 500s (few on here now with Notts & R&R) but at a later stage it got changed to 10W50 which was the one recommended for the esseesse model. If I had a A500 and I was outside the warranty period I might be tempted to use this.

Am I being dumb, or is it only for diesels as the link says?

That link that Andy posted doesn't work anymore but this one works. Even though it states 'Turbo diesel' it is for the petrol models since it's 5w-40 C3 and has Fiat approval spec.

A lot of the newer cars now are using a slightly ligher 5w30 oil (including the USA Fiat 500 1.4 MA) but the diesels are generally 5w-40 - hence why it's used in the name. That Castrol oil is the EXACT SAME as the Castrol Edge oil - just a different name - we can blame the marketing gurus.

The diesel needs a C2 spec as opposed to the C3 spec. There was a previous 'discussion' on it before but I'll resist the temptation of posting a link to it.

That oil should work in you Abarth GP but your manual might now state 10W50 . Using a thicker oil can reduce power by 1-3 bhp. I would guess that the reason Fiat increased the visocity was that they was quite a number using tuning boxs and they weren't changing their oil often enough.
