Same here, this ebay seller is highly recommended and seems to be the best way.

Great thanks for the replies. Might ask my car dealer what price they can do it for when I pick up my 500 hopefully next week.

My dealer said they couldn't get anywhere near that price. In fact they asked where I was getting it from for that price as they had to buy theirs in at a higher price!

I got mine from the guy on ebay (Posted somewhere on this thread)

£230 Including the secondry mount ot allow you to use it in other cars as well as the 500 Port.

Seems a good deal and he delivered very quickly

These are the ZONES covered by Tom Tom

B&Me Tom Tom Live 2 for Europe (45 countries)had this coverage…

Here’s the manual…

I’ve looking at buying a 2nd Tom Tom but I’ll be buying the Tom Tom GOLIVE 1000 and the cradle separately. The 1000 model only does the UK & Ireland. Unfortunately the B&Me Live 2 version doesn't get to 'talk' with the B&Me in the Alfa because the B&Me ECU is too old !

I did think about getting the Go LIVE 1005 model which is 5 inch (bigger than the 4.3inch of the B&Me Tom Tom Live 2) but I haven't been able to check if it will fit into the Alfa / Fiat cradle for the 68R option port since it's not sold in Ireland.

Are these really worth the money? or would a plug in and play garmin do just was well? I've never really been a TomTom fan, especially after a virus knocked out the live stuff on my plugin version last month!

No the 1005 will not fit (I Tried it in mine), the jaws of the mount dont open wide enough for it to fit and would not snap and lock closed ebven if forced in

Depends how much use you put it to, the Live Traffic is excellent in the UK pinpointing jams to the exact spot, but after the first year costs a tad under £50 as year to renew, Maps updates can be had for £19.99 for 8 updates (2 years) if you can find a halfords that still has the discount upgrade cards in stock,

Its great not having cables across the dashboard

If you are not worried about the about and are not interested in the B&M Features on the unit (Media player control etc), then there are other cheaper alternatives avaiable,

Personally I think its cheap (At the £230- Ebay Price) - Which puts it at about the same price as the standard 1000 non B&M Version.

Since the OH has got very fond of my Tom Tom Live 2 I've had to improvise with a Navfree iphone app and surprisingly it comes with a 'Google search' which I have found very handy if I haven't got the address.

I did run both alongside each other on the 'way back' from a round trip and it was quite accurate.

One of the issues that I've had with smartphones is going out of coverage or if I'm close or in the border counties - in which case I'm paying roaming charges. Although the proper Tom Tom app has the maps on the iphone.

On balance from getting used to the Tom Tom Live 2 - I paid €332 for it - which has discounted by the dealer - at £230 I would agree that it's good value for money. In relation to the 'shaking' / shimmering - which was a criticism by another member - I resolved this by giving it a good tightening. The only reason I was considering a GO LIVE 1000 model was that they are available cheapish secondhand on ebay (but unfortunately most ebayers will only sell in the UK).

One feature that I like on the Tom Tom is voice dictation (but it does not work on Google search  ). This saves me having to type it in. Traffic updates are brillant and you would be amazed how you can avoid traffic congestion spots. Have been recently playing around with 'Travel via' so you can route your journey. Time will tell if the safety camera alerts are doing their job. Day and night mode automatically switch. And the trailing wire thing and windscreen attachment are a thing of the past as mentioned by Flashy.

Plus the media integration (which I haven't got) for some are a BIG plus.

Key feature of a Sat Nav is to get you to your destination in the quickest time and I have 99% confidence that it does its best when it re-calcules on route that it's still the best way. One issue that I've had recently was trying to avoid a particular toll so had to opt for 'No tolls' (it was the Tunnel) and then once past selected 'Alternative route' and then opted for Tolls for the rest of the journey.

Read somewhere (cannot remember where) that the unit is not a snug fit in the dashboard mount and can tend to rattle and vibrate a wee bit. Any comments from those who have one fitted. Thanks.

Mine Rattled at first but it was the thumbscrew at the back of the mount once that was tightened its been as quite as a chuch mouse.

If you have the mount in the car with no SatNav in it, then it can rattle a bit as the jaws are free to move, once the satnav is in then its as snug as a bug..

It will interesting to see what this one will go for.

Did anyone on here get the winning bid at £190 ?
Unfortunately I couldn't bid on it because they didn't allow any bids from outside the UK.:(

Imagine that with the new Panda and the 'techno pack' that comes with a 'free' B&Me Tom Tom Live 2 we might 'see' a few more of these coming up for those that have already bought a Tom Tom Live 2.

It's an impressive sat nav and is streets above using the iphone or an older Garmin / Tom Tom but then I haven't used the newer Garmins. The 4.3inch screen is just the right size.

I put my bid in on Goofbay with 4 seconds to go. However, I was not successful, the winning bidder was obviously keen to get it as he had placed an earlier higher bid.
I would not be keen to spend much more than £175 for one with no warranty.

I would have paid at least £200 for it if I could have bid. Not too sure if the winner had put in a higher 'secret' bid higher than £190. The final price is often the last bid put in by someone else but they still don't win it.

It takes a bit of discipline bidding at auctions and it's worthwhile setting a realistic maximum figure before you 'go in'. On-line is a lot different than in a 'real' environment and it takes a bit of practice.

At one stage I was buying up a lot of specialist 'stereo' equipment where the market had got saturated. The manufacturer (Bang & Olufsen) decided to close near on half of the retail outlets in Germany in the mid noughties.
