Hi Iam looking for some help from you guys please.
I have just bought a fiat 500 diesel which has had a front end bump. The car is now repaired but i just cant get it started.
I know the fuel cut off went so i did the indicator reset thing but no joy. The 'fuel cut off' on the dash was still on.
I then had the airbag ecu reset and did the indicator thing again. Now the warning has gone from the dash but still the car wont start. I cant hear the fuel pump kick in and there isnt fuel getting to the filter housing when i pulled the pipe off.
I have been told that i might need to replace the crash sensor on the front slam panel. Does anyone know if this will work?
I have checked the wiring and fuses and all seems good.
Im really stuck now and just want to drive my little car.
Thanks in advance for any help. Scott.

Hello mate, sorry to read of your troubles.

Was the car in your ownership at the time of the accident? How old is it? Who repaired it?

You might need Fiat to give it the once over.........

No i bought it bumped. I repaired it myself. An easy diy job. Its an 08 plate.
Fiat garage will be my last resort hopefully.
I think it may be the crash sensor but i would like someone to confirm this for me.

I presume you follow the proper reset procedure?

Turn the ignition key to the MAR position
Activate the right direction indicator
Deactivate the right direction indicator
Activate the left direction indicator
Deactivate the left direction indicator
Activate the right direction indicator
Deactivate the right direction indicator
Activate the left direction indicator
Deactivate the left direction indicator
Turn the ignition key to the STOP position

Mmm, I'm not sure you will get that sort of confirmation just from your description. I certainly wouldn't be willing to stick my neck out. You might need Fiat diagnostics to find the problem, cost, anything from 60 to 80 quid just for a hook up, but as you've essentially got a non runner at the moment, you might have to get it towed or trailered to your nearest Fiat dealer. You can buy your own equipment, it just depends on how much you're willing to spend and how competent you are at using the equipment. If you've save a packet on doing up a bumped motor (you haven't said, but was it a category D insurance "write off"?). If so, then a couple of hundred quid on a dealer check might be worth it anyway.

Good luck with it and welcome to the Forum by the way.

Hi All thanks for the quick replies. I might just have to take the plunge and get it plugged in. I have a mate that works for peugeot and has a lot of diagnostic equipment that may be compatible so i might get it done for free!
Yes that was the reset procedure i used with the indicators.
Really looking forward to getting the car on the road now. The car is now an arbarth look alike. Wheels, suspension, bumpers and bodykit, exhaust, leather interior, steering wheel etc etc. Looks superb i think with cheap insurance and running costs.

Just incase anyone is interested I got the car sorted. I put a brand new ecu on the car and it fired straight up. Must have been damaged in the crash.
Thanks for your replies.

Hi mate, got the same problem with my 500, did you replace engine ecu if so did it need reprogramming. thanks paul

In the event of a crash where air bags have deployed or fuel cut off after repair always get the ECU crash data removed and replace the crash sensor or sensors depending on where the car was hit, do not power up until everything has been replaced, I know have done this kind of thing hundreds of times.
