Hi All

I recently traded in my 1.2 pop 10 reg for a....1.2 pop 12 reg 500C...the C is the all important addition I might add! (boyfriend will never understand the logic of trading in a 500 for a 500!)

Being super girly and well...some could say OCD about my car, being as I don't like anyone else but me being in it as they are guaranteed to ruin it!!

I am just wondering how often I should clean and proof the roof? The roof is Burgundy and I'm a little cautious about using something like Autoglym incase it takes the colour away?

Any helpful tips on how to clean my little Florence would be muchly appreciated

The best produces used by a lot a lot Car detailers and myself included as I "proofed" our new TA 500C last weekend ..only 2 days old ;-) :

All available at online supplies or Ebay ..Autoglym fabric cleaner and proofer is ok but doesnt last long term as a water proofer.

I've heard of individuals gently hoovering their roofs and IIRC not to soak wash the roof or leave it down for prolonged periods. A cleaner like the one previously posted sounds good. I haven't looked in the car care section yet but judging by the number on here who are into claying etc. there's bound to be a lot of good stuff in there.

Welcome to the forum.(y)

Thanks all!

I'm thinking a gentle brush/hoover and then cleaning with a product like mentioned earlier.

How often should I clean and proof it?? She's only 6 days old so surely not yet??

A light brush and hoover when you wash the car

I would deep clean before you proof the roof ...twice a year is what I did on my MX5 and will be doing going forward on the 500C .

I have just proofed the 500c roof from new last weekend, so it didnt need cleaning but next time I will deep clean.

Just a tip for the proofing, I use a brush to apply it as it saves all the over spray and having to wipe it off the whole car ....old jam car and 2 inch brush saves a lot of cleaning after !!!

You can get approx 2 proofs from one 32floz proofing bottle.

There is such thing as an extending nozzle you know ;-) Anyway a hand held with a brush attachment should do.

I've decided on the autoglym kit to try out first ! It's got quite a few good reviews!
