I'm on here about these bulbs a few times, and my advice is to jack the car up and remove the front wheel.

By doing that, the dog can see the rabbit, and if you have big hands like me that won't go in, you can at least see in and use whatever tool you can get into the hole to extract the bulb and its holder.

I use a pair of snipe-nose pliers to grip the holder, but I like the idea of using a spanner. :)

Yes, jack the car up, remove the wheel and take your time. You can see what you're doing, and the job is a breeze.

Good luck,
Mick.

nice one chunky, think ill get one for future issues, touch wood mine have been ok since i tried , maybe i wiggled it enough for a better connection!
working on my cortina is a piece of cake compared to these modern cars lol

Hi. I had the same problem. Hands too big. My daughters hands small enough but not strong enough. I used a 13mm open ended spanner to fit onto the end of the bulb housing. Then just a sharp turn anti-clockwise to click it off. Did the reverse to put it back on. Just noticed another forum member did something similar. Worked a treat! Hope this helps.

I prepared a tool (11mm width) made of plywood, mainly to get the front indicator bulbs out, but also fitting DLR bulb holder:

This looks easy in the manual ,which is wrong - (should read anti clockwise )but in reality it is not as straight forward. I had difficulty twisting the bulb holder ,as I had to use my "weakest " hand (left) .I am certain that I would find the nearside bulb easier. Also it had been in for 9 years so it had seized up and the two bulbs are too close together when you are working "blind" and even though I have small hands ,I found the hatch and cavity to be much too small. In the end I followed Kawahonduki's advice (thanks) and used the open 11mm spanner to twist it sufficiently. Then I cracked the bulb holder . Maybe I pushed the bulb in a bit too much ,although it could be brittle due to age . I then had trouble relocating the bulb holder back into place as it would not sit square in the lens . Finally I got it sorted with a lot of frustration and a loss of some skin .
Maybe they don't want it to be too easy so many will give up and get a dealer to do the job?
Hoping that this will be of help

PS I agree with others that certain replies were not helpful .

I know its a pain to get to the day light runninglights, but try useing a pair of long nose pliers not perfect but helps a lot.
