So next week I will have my new 1.2 Pop.

Bossa Nova White
Checkered roof
Chrome
Ivory (YAK) and grey interior.

When my mom told me my number plate at first, I thought she said ZXK.
So I instantly thought of Zack (no x, I know)
However it turns out that it's actually ZXR and well I cant get a name out of that.

I feel that the checkered roof definitely makes it more male than female.

I might know when I see it, but I didn't think it would be this difficult!!

When I was originally having the Italian stripes, it was definitely going to be Luigi! But now it's checkered, I'm stumped!!

my TA (also white) was originally going to be called Enzo in honour of our cat, given its Italian for Harry and he is black and white

mrs w referred to it as Pootle, pootle reg acquired so rest is history

I couldn't make a name of mine either as mines NXW so i just brought up a list of italian girls names and found the best name. which was Lucia :)

Thanks for the replies!
I love Enzo! So unique!

And Lucia is a beautiful name.
My very first thought for a name, (when it was just white standard) was Mimi, I have no idea why, but now I'm in search of a real manly name.
I can't have a checkered roof and a girls name, it just won't do!! aha

In the hour its been since I posted this...
I've actually found a name for my new baby.

He shall be called Bruno.

It's Italian.
It's manly.
And Bruno Mars is beautiful :')

I feel this is perfect, and I shall have a picture of me and my beloved Bruno up when I pick it up!!!

Thanks for everyones input :')

Mine's been Luigi since before I got him, for obvious reasons. However, if he wasn't Luigi, given the tendency for the non-uprated back end to leap about, he'd be called Skippy ;)

My wife is currently having this same dilemma!
She has been in 'talks' with her Italian friend, but no definite answers yet.
Hoping seeing the car in the metal might help.
Contenders so far: Rossina, Italian feminine for red (as she's a girl rather than Rosso for a boy). Slippers, as in Ruby (Wizard of Oz, as if this needs an explanation!) Cutey Car, now dismissed as too sickly/generic. Rubino, Italian for Ruby. Ragamuffin, self explanatory really!
If anyone wants to come up with something, car is going to be:
1.2 Lounge in Ragamuffin.

TheCurleyOne does the car have any extras?

To start with I was translating stuff into Italian aha.

Mine has a checkered roof so I was translating checkered, check, squares, black, white and so on...

Then I started looking at Italian names beginning with the letters from my number plate. Until eventually Bruno just popped into my head!
Wasn't even searching around or thinking, it just popped up.

So maybe thinking too much is the problem, maybe you should just let it flow, forget it for a little while, and see if anything pops up :)

How about Rosa, or even Maria, I always associate Maria with red for some reason...
Or Rosetta.
Or Rosalie.

I love the R's for Italian names :')

I've given up on name! My 500 was simply called Ficha (affectionate name for Fiat 600 in Serbian) but now I have Abarth Punto I usually call it Punto. My hubby starts every trip with: 'Are we going in a car (meaning his monstrous Volvo) or in the Fitcha?' I can't give my car any meaningful name when my OH wont even acknowledge its a car!:bang:

Never quite understand the whole naming inanimate objects thing, I can kind of understand it on an older car or if you were calling it something like Melana's Ficha, but to give it an actual christian name is a bit strange and takes it from being a car to being a person.

You can see the difference in the way people react to when a car gets keyed..... When Enrico Farfalone Ramalamadindong Umberto Fartface gets keyed or scratched or dinged in a car park the person is usually hysterical that their friend has been wounded, and the other person is characterised as being jealous and they're so sad and it goes on and on and on. When someone who just treats a car like a car has that happen, they call the person a "C**t" ask where they can get it sorted and move on with life.

It's a car, treat it like a car because you could get taken from behind in traffic and your car could be written off and you're only setting yourself up to get be even more disappointed and unhappy than you otherwise would be.

It's a car, treat it like a car call it "The Fiat" or "The 500" and just stop giving things names :p

It's only right that you have the choice to 'name' your car, but I can't help but feel that declaring to all and sundry helps form the idea that women are complete air heads, and puts the fear in men that your going to be putting lippy on at the traffic lights, and drive in a dippy manner!:bang:

I get the feeling each time I see someone declare their 500's name they think its going to be original... and then it seems to end up being luigi or bella,

Please please for woman kind, in this fairly masculine domain of the 500 forum, lets try to be seen as worthy companions.:):)

I completely agree. Luigi, Bella, Mario, Benito (naming your car after a ****** of a dictator?) and Enzo are all hugely unoriginal names for a 500 yet like you say, everyone coming along and announcing their cars name appears to think they're the first :p
