Hey was wondering if anyone has had any problems with their door handles.....mine came off in my hand today!!!! Took 500 to local garage but they advised taking it up to Arnold Clark as this shouldn't happen to a 3 year old car. My car is out of warranty though so probably wont be cheap:(

it's happened to one or two people, but not exactly an epidemic. Wouldn't imagine it'd be too expensive though

I posted regarding broken door handles yesterday. I now can't find the other posts on the subject! Is it me or have they been removed? It must be a big problem. A week ago I called into Stoneacre's Lincoln to tell them about the handles.I was asked to bring the car in to let them see it.When asked, they said that they had 1 other car with the problem. I think that may be an understatement! Today I took the day off work and did a 40 mile round trip to Lincoln. The receptionist rang service. I was told that there was nobody free to look at the car.It had to be booked in.I was not told that a week ago!I then went to the parts department to order a set of wheel plates (the 3rd set needed so far!!!)I was telling the young man in parts how angry I was when the guy behind ,sat at a desk ,joined in It turned out that he was the service manager who had spoken to the receptionist. I said to him "The car is just outside your door, can you not come and just confirm that the handles are coming off" He didn't have time!!!Words fail me! When I arrived home I tried to ring Fiat. The number in my handbook was no longer active. I rang Stoneacre to ask for Fiat's number. They gave it to me. Not a current number!! I rang Stonacre's head office to complain. They didn't have Fiat's number ,but said they would ring me back with it.They did. I rang Fiat .The man on the phone as very pleasant and said he would call me back.He called a little later to say that they would look into my problem and ring me back within 48 hours.I will let you know the outcome.I have never wanted a Fiat in the past ,but my Wife liked the 500 when she first saw it.It's her car and she has enjoyed it.I am very dissapointed with Stoneacre and will not buy from them again.

Buy a Porsche their customer service is great.
If you don't want to do that you could spend £13 on this to fix your door problems.

Although we appreciate your concern, this thread is someone elses that is over a year old.....it's called thread hijacking;)

May I suggest starting a new thread or even better introducing yourself in the 'newbie section' (were all friends here:)) and perhaps putting it in the garages section as your complaint seems to be more against Stoneacre than anything else.

Welcome to FF:wave:

As RUI suggested above it's not that big a deal and £13 for the kit will see you right;)

Who did you speak to? Was is Russell? He seems to be the guy that sits on the service desk in the main showroom. He's a bit rubbish at following up on warrenty repairs by phone, but usually responds when I phone and leave a message if he's not available there and then.

You've just reminded me to ring and chase when they are going to replace the bulging leather on my seat.

I have popped my car over "on spec" twice now (late afternoons), both times someone was able to have a quick look, once to reset the on board computer as a temporary fix, and the other I ended up having to leave my car to get the coils problem sorted, but I *think* I was able to get it booked in for the day after anyway.

I don't think I would take a day off work and drive 40 miles without an appointment though, but maybe that's me?

I have to say that I didn't buy my car from them in the end, although we did try. I was waving a credit card at them asking for a deposit to be taken but the computer was broken and no one phoned me on Monday to go back in to re-arrange. I bought my car from a dealer 70 miles away, I'm going to use stoneacre for the remainder of my warrenty and then use the garage next door to my house or one of the Fiat guys in town for work. But I wouldn't recommend them either tbh.
